Otherwise what do I tell the boss, sorry boss the best time I code is between 9.00am and 12:00pm. Sure Norm that's fine and that's what you'll get paid for - 3 hours.

The question was about the "best coding", not work hours.

Yeah, when I say 'coding' I mean heads down typing. When I am not coding I am planning, documenting, texting, etc... I can do those things just about anytime.

I agree. I'm rather inept socially. I have mastered social skills to the point that I can fake it. Inside my head however, I feel I'd rather do something else other than talking to people that I feel I have nothing in common with. Anyway, I can deal with that, and put on a smile if I have to.
When I'm working however, I feel like I want to rip the head of the person who disturbs me for things they ought to be able to do themselves. Or mindless chatter about absolutely nothing, when you can clearly tell that I'm concentrated on solving a problem. That makes my blood boil. So far I've managed to keep my cool, but I fear that I will some day tell the bothering person go somewhere where it's not so nice. I've tried to get back at such people by "disturbing" them with mindless chatter when they're busy, but it didn't work out very well. It was a pleasant pause for them. These days I just ignore people the best I can if they have nothing relevant to say when I'm busy. They usually walk away after a minute or two.

I wouldn't want to call myself a master of martial arts, but yeah, I do know a few tricks. I think it's my training that keeps my cool.

Well, martial arts is about control and defending yourself. Perhaps you might experiment with more aggressive ways to set boundaries that are acceptable, and would serve as a good blocking technique with the grace of a well orchestrated kata.
Example: If it can wait, can you contact me through email? I only ask because some of these problems I'm working on take me an hour just to get to the level of concentration that I can actually begin to solve them. I have a hard time getting right back to it when I'm disturbed.
This is more honorable then "trying to teach lessons through getting back passively".
Additionally, you might try to change your surroundings, which for myself is a constant challenge with a home office and children. I have to set firm boundaries for them and it takes constant grooming. My children have learned to understand these boundaries and I get much more accomplished. Colleagues likewise don't necessarily understand the impact of their actions unless you explain and offer alternatives for them to try that work for everyone.
"Please use email unless it's a phone call coming in from a client or its really really important... such as a tornado, hurricane... or what I want for lunch.
Just food for thought.

They bother you because they are incapable of doing it themselves right? Anyways, I am exercising a '5' vote for this message.

Not incapable, but unwilling or just lazy. If people come to me asking for help for something which they truly can't do, or haven't understood, I have no problems with that. Then I will be more than happy to help!

That's almost as bad as a net meeting where none of the parties have figured out 1) what communication tool to use, and 2) how to use it. Seriously. I've been to meetings where some parties have been patched in using a mobile phone, and a microphone.

Very much true. At least in this part of the world, one can really witness undue drumming of tables, loud humming of film songs by people demonstrating somewhat a 'hero-like' pompous shows who ultimately anyway prove that they are just zeroes. That is the reason, sometimes for critical assignments, I try to push the schedules ahead and use my Saturdays too, when the atmosphere is calm.

Are you sure the purpose of re-run is not to find out if we told you the truth 2 years ago?
