No time for books anymore , when I was young I used to read a book at week, family life and work like won't allow me to read.
I occasionaly read science journals on holiday, but they've been far and few over the past three years, hopefully in October I'll be in Lanzarote and I'll be making time for a book during keeping the kids occupied.

I agree. To work 70 hours a week (or more) have a significant other and a social life leaves no time for reading even if I wanted to do so...

May be I`m lucky,Because I`m unmarried. I have some time to read, although after 10 o`clock at night.

No 10 o'clock at night it's time for some shut eye up at 6:30am and in work for 7:20am.

My workplace is about 8 miles drive and the stretch is bit slow-moving because of heavy traffic. Since I only use public commutation, I can carry the book and read it along.
I admit that 'Reading whilst travelling' is harmful to eyes. But got addicted to it.

I just got introduced to books by Robert Ludlum and really like them. Currently reading The Road to Omaha.
In case you have never heard of him, here are three of his books you may have seen in the theaters.
The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum
and not yet a movie...
The Bourne Legacy

Make sure you read The Road to Gandolfo as well. Great fun!
Do you read Clive Cussler at all?

I'll look for that book. I have read one Clive Cussler book before, but I can't rembember what it was. I liked him, but I had so many other free books that I got from my dad, that I haven't sought him out yet.

The Bourne Legacy wasn't written by Robert Ludlum. It was written by Eric Van Lustbader after Ludlum passed away in 2001. EVL has a new Bourne novel (The Bourne Betrayl) that came out back in June and is the heir apparent to the Bourne series.

Thanks for the correction. Upon further inspection, I see that he didn't write that one. I don't think that will stop me from pursuing those books later on.

I'm reading Legacy; one of 4 books I'm reading right now, the others being Dune: House Harkonen, Fellowship of the Ring (I do the trilogy every year), and a management book called "First Among Equals" about managing other professionals without alienating them.

What about comic books & mangas ?
Or are these not considered books ?
|
|
|
|
|
Wouldn't those fit under 'Humor'?
|
|
|
|
|
of course not, that's why they're called comics and mangas .
You don't say banana to an apple do you .
But I admit comics should have been added to the list.

So far as the trend shows that Romance and Sports are of least interest..........
Most the people how are related to programming are young people and, Sports and Romance are the choices of youth;P. But I think at least this is not true for the Software Engineering. It is a global trend

Sadly most "romance" novels are craptacular Danielle Steele and Mills & Boon specials.
Plenty of the books I read have romance in them* but they aren't classified as romance novels.
* Reading The Child Garden by Geoff Ryman now and it has a love story in it.

Sure, a Microsoft product roadmap can make for great fiction and old ones can certainly be considered humor.
