Ah, so THAT'S how the non-geeks get dates! Wow, you're a life-saver.

I have been wondering why my my "lets go to PDC" and "view the Matrix:Revolutions together" pickup lines have been so unsuccessful...

I'd love to create calendar entries, contacts and notes by speech.
MS has released a software that you can retrieve those, I hope mine is coming soon...

I can see it now:
Fred: What should we do this weekend?
Fred's wife: Let's visit my parents. Cancel all of your appointments.
(Fred's PDA cancels all stored appointments)
Fred: Aaaaugh!

On a related note, I always loved the idea of a voice-operated datacenter. I hardly wait for the day that I enter in such a datacenter and scream "Select, All Drives, Format, Yes!" and run.

Yep, I'm the one who wrote in "Free". I still don't find enough use for PDAs to justify paying their cost, no matter what the features. For me, price is the deciding thing. If they ever get to a point where they are ridiculously cheap, then maybe I'll get one.

I am the one who wrote 'Low Price', for the same reason: To get me to change from Pen&Paper to a GeekGizmo, it has to be more usable, not as cumbersome, and cheaper.
Its a long way to go, but the newer low cost Palms are one step in the right direction.
And - there is no way that I ever use a bloated all-in-one device with something like a Longhorn-beta as its OS.
Not even for free.
Who is 'General Failure'? And why is he reading my harddisk?!?

I know you know it is a bad reason to justify something because it is cheap.

Yes, that's true. But it's all about how much something is perceived to be worth. For me, a PDA just isn't worth as much as they cost. However if they were much less expensive, it might be worth it.

My PDA consists of little bits of paper with people numbers scrawled on it. Never runs out of batteries and fits in my wallet.
