Do you code to allow internationalization of your applications?   [Edit]

Survey period: 29 Sep 2003 to 5 Oct 2003

Resource DLLs are evil. There are better ways of doing things.

This is all good but in real world you are much more affected by a) the order of words in the sentence and b) dialog layout problems. Also c) it is extremely difficult to explain to translators (who do not usually have anything to do with computers except knowing how to use MS Word) what this or that out-of-context sentence mean.

So, in my unfortunate experience, the extracting of strings to a resource (text file, XML file, INI file etc.) just the very beginning of extremely lengthy, frustrating and painful process. Wink | ;) In many cases, it does not worth the time and efforts spent unless somebody is paying big money. Usually, "they" don't. Sigh | :sigh:
