I used to be a very skinny dude, playing football all the time. Now that I am a programmer, I have to sit down all the day long. I now, am fat (relative to what I was back then in 2011) and I have a family-pack on my belly.
It surely is a side-effect, now I am looking forward to get married.

Same here. I have also been working since 2011 and, I guess, have got this belly as incentive!

My eyes started to give my problems about 4 years ago. Now I can't read/code without eyeglasses. Who's to say it's due to staring at a computer screen for the last 17 years or whether it's due to age or even genetics? (both my brothers are also now wearing readers)

Farsightedness is an eventual effect of old-age as the lens loses elasticity.
I went from nearsighted but able to wear my glasses for anything to either having to remove them for close work or get bifocals.

It is an age problem, starting in the forties but working on a computer makes it more heavy.
But people working as craftsman have other and more severe problems. Often with the knees or littly money.

Yes, as Karsten suggests, it's an inevitable thing for folk in their forties or thereabouts. It's to do with the weakening of the muscles that hold the lenses in shape and comes on surprisingly quickly.
For many people, it can actually bring an improvement as it's more common to be born short-sighted than long and it can have something of a correcting effect. Sadly, I was born long-sighted and I'm just very grateful to live in the days of varifocals (and feel a real idiot for having refused them the first couple of times that my optician suggested them).
I don't find eye-strain to be as much of an issue as it was in the days of monochrome screens, the green on blacks were an absolute bugger for it and I regularly suffered from both eye-strain and migraines in those days. Black and amber screens weren't quite so excruciating but when we moved to colour monitors it was a very happy day for my eyeballs.

I have many afflictions as I grow older. I suppose I could blame a good many of them on programming, sure.
