- My wife's internal body clock works like a charm, and she gets me up.
- Our cats get us up on schedule, early, every elephanting day, weekdays and weekends.

I like to take a nap most days after work, because I love feeling refreshed when I wake up. Unfortunately, if I do not set my alarm to wake up at 8 or 9 PM, I sometimes sleep through until 2 AM or even later.
I hope I'm not getting old!

I normally set my alarm, but am up somewhat in advance of it.
However, there are nights (last night happened to be one) where I'm puzzling over a problem/pissed off at co-workers/whatever that I wake up in the middle of the night and spend significant time mulling over something.
At some point during the night, I'll shut off the alarm, hoping to sleep in and get some decent rest when I finally do fall back asleep.
Slept four minutes later than the alarm would've went off today. Sigh.

I'll use a clock if I have an early flight and perhaps in the hotel before business meetings. I debated about answering occasionally, but I felt it's not often enough for that option (subjective feel).
Anyway, with a wife, two children and two cats, along with my internal alarm, I don't need an alarm on a typical day. When I do use an alarm, I prefer the 'wake to music' type.

I don't wake up, with alarm, with people shouting around me, with people calling me on my phone 3-5 times, with TV being watched at full volume or anything that may cause disturbance to you.
Simply, I wake up when I have to. I'm a king of my life, alarms can't rule me.

Waking up when you have to isn't being king of your life.
Waking up when you want to is...

I don't wake up to go to my job, I wake up to go and have a cup of tea. That is what I have to wake up for.

Since my kids started school my body clock has kicked in to awaken me before a set time 0730hrs! Do any other parents have the same enforced body clock regiment?

Indeed. And in a case of exhaustive periods, kids themselves act like a backup alarm, as they come to my bed 5 mins later

I have no problem to wake at 7:30, the problem is that the school bus leaves at 7:00

Why to use an alarm to wake up.
I have flexible working hours so, I don't use an alarm to wake me up
Usually I go for work in the time space between 09.00 am - 11.00 am
(depends on what time I'll wake up) :P
Hit my ID card.. work 8-9 hours then go home
If we have to do scrum or agile meetings we do them around 14.00 - 16.00
and that's because everyone is at office around that time

Quote: Surprised to see 7 people said they don't sleep. Really!!! There are bots on CodeProject, too. Bots don't need to sleep.
Quote: Why there is such an option to the question? Why there a need to start such a survey? Are we going to develop a new pill to help us overcome sleep sooner, or later?
