Don't you find it funny: to pay every month for a good Internet and have no money for $300 PC? )
Be sure, it's real money for "medium level" PC!

good h/w doesnot corresponds to a $300 pc its deserves some more... internet is basic need lets you are accessing it from i-phone then its better to use saas services

I forgive your knowless blah-blah, just FYI:
MB, CPU, RAM, HDD. Total: $220, even 27% less than 300!

Lol.... Dont exhibit your mathematics... Pointing towards availaibility only also available on the fly...

Sorry, didn't catch a joke. Can you explain?
I just say that having _good_ Internet is ridiculous to say about "weak HW". $220 and you'll have PC enough for nearest 5 years AT LEAST.

But I don't want those "features". The Office 2003 I have still does what I want.

Are straight out of the pit of hell.
My C: drive, My backup server (in my basement), My software <tongue stuck="" out="">.
Get of my lawn too whipper snappers!
This is a hot button issue with me.
I was around before the PC when a computer was a DEC VT-100 and a VAX cluster somewhere.
Now everyone wants the power (C: drive) back. - And they want you to pony up monthly and or yearly
to keep using what should be and was always YOURS and your data too.

For those who thought about illegal downloading when they read the subject, shame on you!
The gaming industry is discovering free-to-play. There's also lots of great free software out there that I use both in private and at work.
Who knows, maybe the next Visual Studio, SQL Server and Office Professional Editions are free-to-play too...
Of course there are always the Express Editions.

True, I guess playing for free comes at a price
But it's usually a price I'm willing to pay.
Of course I'm always willing to pay for a good product.
Unfortunately there aren't so many good products around nowadays (not that I'm interested in anyway).
When I buy it's usually music cd's or film dvd's. They're quite expensive, but I can't resist...

Me too, I just love playing on a pc. A keyboard and mouse just gives so much pleasure...
I'm currently playing Sacred 2. Fun game, great to kill some time (and whatever I find on the road).
I would've bought Diablo 3, but I'm sick and tired of those DRMs that require me to be online whenever I play. It's not really a problem, because I am always online anyway. It's just that I don't like that I have to.
The only game I would consider buying is Mass Effect 3, because I so much enjoyed 1 and 2. However, I've had the luck with Mass Effect 1 too that some workers were breaking up the road and I didn't have internet on a free day... So long single player game that I can't play because of ridiculous DRM...
And WHY are they doing this on the new Sim City too...
It's an OO world.

And how often I expect to be using it. In normal situations, I would prefer to buy once, but it depends...
