Don't at least some make you feel all worshipful?

Was there not some relation between peripheral vision and intelligence? I'm sure you do fine.

IE/Edge, the best browser to download another browser.
Windows, the best OS to download another OS?
What's next, use .NET to download Java?
MS Office to download LibreOffice?
SQL Server to download Oracle?

Well, they can run Windows on Linux (Wine), so Nadella must have thought: Then we must run Linux on Windows ....
I really like the way that man thinks: If we make sure they don't need our products anymore, then we win! Just like Windows mobile: You can program it with .Net compact Silverlight WPF Metro Modern UI never mind, here is Xamarin, so you can build for anything but Windows mobile.- Hey why is nobody using Windows mobile anymore?
With a CEO like that, you don't need enemies.

You'd still be using a Microsoft product so it'll at least freeze your computer

Honestly, it reduces friction for me since I can use the same CLI on a client as on any given server, with a better command structure to boot. Why Ubuntu rather than just a BASH for Windows, though, I cannot say. That bit annoys me.

This app does not work on your device.
My "device" is running Ubuntu 18.04.
One of my Windows 10 VM's is at 27%, the other did its thing yesterday. Pays to have several.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

OMG. 15 years later -- Bill's experience is prescient of what the experience is like in 2018!
[edit]Actually, after reading the full content of his email, I'm surprised he didn't replace his Windows XP box with an Apple box! [/edit]

Technology has issues, sure, but why would he purposefully downgrade?

It is got much better since... Nowdays Windows installs/updates software on its own, and does the reboot also... Whenever it fits...
I can't see how 6 minutes of update/install process can annoy Bill Gates... The email shows how disconnect he was from the reality of Microsoft while dreaming in his office... As I see it is still the same today...

("I typed in movie maker. Nothing. So I gave up and sent mail to Amir saying – where is this Moviemaker download? Does it exist? So they told me that using the download page to download something was not something they anticipated.")
Bill should try Windows 10's Start menu.
I have two machines here sitting side-by-side, with the same build of Windows 10. If I bring up the Start menu on one of them and type in "Programs and features", the control panel applet we all know and love (ahem) shows up. On the next machine, I get "Apps & features", "Add or remove programs" (both of which bring up this Metro-fied abomination that is NOT what I asked for) and "Turn Windows features on or off". Yet if I type in "control" (for control panel), Programs and Features is right there.
It's not a matter of having it learn how I use the start menu or some-such BS (which is a flawed approach anyway), as I invoke it just about as frequently on both machines.

About two weeks ago I asked your advice on some hardware, mainly two new monitors and a docking station.
You guys gave me some very good tips and recommendations and after taking everything into consideration... I did the complete opposite
So I got two brand new Dell UtraSharp 25" monitors[^] and connected them with the new Dell D6000 Universal Dock[^].
My old keyboard had a "compatible with Win95" label and PS/2 port and my originally white mouse was a dirty yellowish color, so I decided to get a pretty standard Microsoft wired keyboard and mouse[^] as well.
Everything was plug n play and works like a charm
Funny thing with the monitors, they're 2560 x 1440 and Windows recommends changing font sizes to 125%.
I agree that 100% is a bit small, but at 125% some text got blurry.
The solution is to choose a custom scale and set it at... 125%!
Works like a charm, everything's crispy clear
Now to get twice as much work done!

I'll have to try that at work. Hey manager, if you get me two decent monitors, I can get twice the work done!
Right now we have two crappy monitors, one is a 1280x768 dinosaur, the other a small 1920x1080And by "small", I mean it's physically a small monitor, not the nice big 23" monitors I have at home.
I should stop now, otherwise I'll go on ranting about the archaic i5, 8MB, 5400 RPM disk, crap as well. I have two laptops with better specs!!!
