With all the hoopla surrounding the end of support for XP, I decided to see what was available for an old Win2K system. The update errors out, but clicking on the FAQ there brings this[^] up. It appears that support for Win2K SP4 and WinXP SP3 are still ongoing. See, nothing to worry about!

I was under the impression that if you installed XP on a PC today, you would continue to get all updates up to the last one that was released on 8 April, 2014. Is that not correct?

I believe that is true, but where are you going to buy a WinXP license? Actually, it looks like eBay is the answer in case you were wondering.
Another interesting thing is the Microsoft Security Essentials. On my XP system, that program keeps popping up a message saying support for the OS has ended, which means MSE itself will no longer be updated. However, it is still receiving updated virus and spyware definitions - the last update came in about 4 hours ago.
To those of you shaking your heads, I do intend to update to a newer OS, but I need to buy a few hardware upgrades first. That has once again been delayed as we need to pay for my wife's upcoming knee surgery .

I too noticed the MSE behavior this morning. They make it really annoying by using the 'at risk' red theme. I only have one 'on the metal' XP system and a few VMs/XP modes only used for testing.
I know of many people who are still happy with XP running on 8+ year old hardware. A lot of them will probably be looking for another AV solution instead of buying new systems.
Good luck with the surgery.

I think there was a post a week or so ago either here or in Insider News, that mentioned Microsoft would introduce a popup reminder, so I was expecting something like that, but I really hope it will eventually stop popping up. I agree, the red theme and icon with the X makes it even more annoying.

The page I looked at didn't include XP SP3, so I'll have to downgrade to SP2 to get that continued support!

Interesting.
I have just tested my own site, few more pointers than codeproject. Not sure if I could do anything about it, unless I change my SSL provider.
