Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!" - Hunter S Thompson - RIP

Oh come on... recent poll about "what do you do if internet goes down at work" is missing ALL real options
- Start troubleshooting
- Place phone out of hook to avoid out of breath users
- Turn off mobile phone to avoid out of breath bosses
- Wait until ISP solves it
- Wait until fiber gets replaced
- Wait until fiber gets replaced after killing rats
|
|
|
|
|
Well, there's also "run around outside, naked, in a blind, screaming panic" but after half a dozen options the masses start getting bored of all the options, regardless of how realistic they be.
cheers

It seems like nobody is doing Windows end user oriented applications these days. Multimedia applications (Winamp, Corel draw etc) don`t take the center stage anymore. Is it all about severs now? I imagine there is no proper Windows application being developed now a ways except if it`s another dinosaur reiteration (MS Office, Corel package etc.). So the only binary that`s still being produced is related to non Windows OS`s.

Um ... have you tried using Fusion 360 on a phone recently?
Photoshop?
Corel Paintshop Pro?
Teams?
Zoom?
I suspect there is a fair amount of Confirmation bias[^] - the sheer number of apps you see advertised for mobile devices make it look like they are more important, more prevalent.
I could be wrong ...

With some work you can get any piece of software initially thought for Windows to run on any device with a processor and some RAM. But I didn`t had phones in mind when I made my post. Phones aside the remaining pie is made of 1 proper Windows apps (dinosaurs), 2 software meant to be run a web browser and 3 server/alternative OS software.

A UWP app runs on Windows, Xbox, Tablet, Hub, "mobile", ... The only limitation is imagination.
"Before entering on an understanding, I have meditated for a long time, and have foreseen what might happen. It is not genius which reveals to me suddenly, secretly, what I have to say or to do in a circumstance unexpected by other people; it is reflection, it is meditation." - Napoleon I

It was really the 'cloud' that I was looking to get an insight into. It seems that the cloud is just same data with several parallel access interfaces. Each interface is specialized with dealing with Internet requests coming from a certain type of device.
