Eh, I've got one confirmed case about that far away from me as well.
Think about it this way. You'll either get it or you won't. If you do get it you'll either die or you won't. With the mortality rate, odds are you'll be fine even if you do end up with it. Live your life, don't panic, be responsible, so on so forth.

Yeah. And when you think "it's a 3% death rate" that's kinda understandable. When you rephrase that to "225,000,000 people will die" it becomes rather more serious ... same figures, different way to look at them.

I thought that the world's greatest expert on everything said that the mortality rate is well below 1%.

What was the death rate among the natives when white man arrived in The New World?
Among whites, e.g. measels was an everyday matter. When we were kids, we visited friends and schoolmates having caught measels, hoping to be infected so that we would build up a lifelong immunity against further attacks. Nowadays, measels are viewed as something close to the Black Death, in some populations that never had any resistance or immunity.
At least in principle, corona may in a similar way hit some population groups harder than others. If it hits certain groups really bad, who would then collect your garbage? Who would then clean the toilets at your workplace? Who would sweep the streets? Who would pick the fruit when they start to ripen?
Or, what if other groups are hit much worse than the Chinese: If White, Anglo-Saxon Protestants, aryans, sees a death toll ten times as high as that of the Asians (maybe even higher among well-fed, somewhat alcoholized 40+ males), could that have significant impact on the international economic, or other, order?
It doesn't have to be the current corona virus. It could be the next virus infection, or the one after that. In any case, we should not forget how differently New World populations reacted to Western virus infections, compared to "us" (granted, I am aware that a fair number of readers of this do not belong in the "us" group in the sense "of old world descent - I trust you to get may point, nevertheless). There is no guarantee that "we", the aryans, will be those who can handle the next wave of virus infections. We are certainly not the ones who are best protected against the spread.
Many Western societies are of very mixed population - at one count, the company I work for had employees of 37 nationalities (that includes the sales force all over the world). Could we entirely loose any of them, without the company taking a severe blow? Certainly not the guys from India! Or the Russians! Or the Poles! Or the Chinese! And the Finns! We have surprisingly few co-workers from our nearest neighbours, like Sweden, Denmark, Germany and England, but a loss of them would nevertheless be very dramatic. As a Norwegian company, the majority of the leadership (as well as the old core of professonal experts) is Norwegian. If we had a major hit against all of traditional Norwegaian descent, that would be the end of our activities. I cannot imagine that non-Norwegian survivors would be able to fill all the positions required to continue operation.
I don't think the world has seen its last Black Death-level pandemic. I am far from certain that Western aryans will be those who are most resistant to it when it comes. And then I am far from certain that Western aryans will be as dominating as they are today, after the world recovers from the pandemic.

That was fun - a link to a different language, one that Google can't translate. I assume that it's about the COVID-19 virus, since that's all the news these days. To put things into perspective, the US has had about 10 - 20 deaths this year from this virus, but year to date, we've had 18,000 deaths from the flu. Certainly, any new virus is a matter of concern, but this one isn't a huge threat. I don't get why the Liberal media is openly attempting to create hysteria. It seems to me that a more useful message would be, "Get your flu shot!."

I checked the numbers on the CDC homepage.
Today it says that 20000 people have died from flu this season.
350000 people have been hospitalized and 34 million have been sick with the flu.
That gives that a little bit more than 10% of the US population had the flu, and of those have less than 0.1% died from it.
The mortality rate of covid-19 is more than 1%. In Italy it is five percent at the moment.
But that isn't the worst part. Covid is much more contagious (Ro of 2.3 instead of 1.3). So unchecked you can count on many more people getting sick than from the flu.
And that with 5-10% of the sick people ending up in ICU.
Have you checked recently how many ICU-places there are where you live?

[RANT]
Aaarrrghhhh,
My kids go to school, they have classmates, classmates have parents and those parents organize things like joint parties, driving to an event, presents for the teacher, …
So one parent takes initiative and sends a mail to everyone to organize something. Great, very nice, no problem there. But then it seems that every single parent of every single classmate feels the need to press "reply all" to send "thank you", "how nice is this", "you're amazing" type of messages .
As if I give a f... damn!!
and of course, somehow the wrong email address is used, so you ask kindly to change it to something else, no, just press "reply all" again with some other useless message.
Stupid parents !
(had to get that of my chest, thank you for reading )

Are the joints for the kids or the parents? Either way, I didn't think that sort of thing was legal outside of Amsterdam.

Solution: allow your kids to grow up in ignorance with no peer-to-peer social skills, and home school them.
