One of the concert venues I walk past on the way to work has up a memorial to him on the front...
"Robert Hunter fare the well
Thanks for the long strange trip"
Or something like that. Well I look up and instantly notice 'the well' and could only wonder if they ran out of 'e's. I really want to stop by after work today and point it out to them. Because I live in a college down they have probably had 1000 others do the exact same thing.

My bosses are always looking for someone. But they realy demand something from you. Every friday we go outside and grill some steaks. And it also has occured that they reserve a table at the Oktoberfest and force you to gulp down two or three litres of Oktoberfestbier in two hours. You may also be asked to learn the Bavarian hymn and come in traditional clothing to such events.

I once saw one at the side of the road that had caught fire. Only the metal parts were left over and that was not so much.

if there is one thing i am sure of, it is that Chris had a good reason for removing it ... its absence means nothing to me because i almost never used it ... the Lounge has always met my needs for recreation, entertainment, social contact, spouting off, friendly jabbering, and semantic dueling, etc.
and, yes, i've been beating my dead horse about code in the Lounge for a long time: i'll spare you telling you why, again (hint: curation => lasting accessibility, and value).
as mentioned on the other SB thread today, i agree we are now seeing spillage of former SB material here, and that is annoying ... if i choose to read that.
there will always be individuals on (permissive) public forums that will troll, or act-out personal psychodramas that are disruptive, grandiose, narcissistic, etc. my experience is they tend to flame-out, or push the limits so far they get kicked-out.
now: let's take a deep breath, and then remind ourselves we are (diverse) members of a remarkable community !

And in a few years, 5 or 10, those of us old-timers that are still alive will be waxing on the good 'ol days when there was a Soapbox. And the youngin's will all be wondering what we're gabbing on about!
