I am fairly certain that this is all relative to where you are listening to a spice girl at. I am sure certain locations sound just fine - know what I mean? nudge, nudge, say no more.

I'm looking on craigslist for a pet rabbit for my daughter. I emailed one listing and they responded that there is a rehoming fee. Why bother calling it a rehoming fee? Why not just say you are selling your pet? Does the word "rehoming" make the pet owner feel better about themselves?
Seems silly to me.

Pay the money to the rabbit, after all, it is the rabbit that is moving, not the owner
Seriously; I'd recommend getting a cat - rabbits can bite hard, and they're not always friendly and cuddly. If she still wants a rabbit, go for a Flemish giant rabbit, as they are relatively relaxed.
Ditch craigslist and look for a farmer; you'll have a decent and cheap rabbit this christmas. Do inform the farmer you need it alive, not marinated

Um. They don't last long (4 to 6 years), and they're pretty boring most of the time - still a big commitment though. Better than Gerbils but not a lot.
A cat is a lot more independant and live a whole lot longer.

Plus cats smell bad. And I know, most cat owners don't think they smell but I can tell instantly the moment I walk in to a cat owner's home. It smells bad. I'm not sure why cat owners can't smell it.

Ohw, I can smell it, but I stink more than my cat
Goedzo has an electrical collar (pet fence) that allows him to go into the garden, but not beyond the wiring. He often sh*ts there, instead of the litter-bin. Compare that to walking a dog, but without the walking.
If it rains, he'll prefer the bin. Picking up a single cat-turd is simpeler and faster than picking up 40 pellets that the rabbit produces between the hay.
ZurdoDev wrote: most cat owners don't think they smell but I can tell instantly the moment I walk in to a cat owner's home I somehow don't think you're lazy enough to accept the smell of a cat turd for three days. Simply check it when waking up and when going to sleep, no biggy.
C'mon, get her a kitten or a puppy

Yeah, mine really doesn't like to use his litter tray - but when he does I just clean the pooh and wet litter out as soon as I notice and it doesn't smell. Add in and empty and bleach of the tray every week and it's all fine.
Certainly rodents smell all the time, because they don't care where they go...

OriginalGriff wrote: Certainly rodents smell all the time, because they don't care where they go... Nocturnal rodents are the worst; look dead during the day, start running when you sleep. A cat does the same ofc, but that's different, because it is cute!

I used to keep gerbils.
What's great about gerbils is that that don't smell at all and they tend to be fairly active.
With a little patience it's also possible to train them to run up your arm and sit on your shoulder.
I wouldn't discount gerbils as a good pet.

Quote: All pets need attention and cleaning in one way or another. My pet rock is great - it never poops, doesn't bite or growl at visitors, has no special food requirements (actually no requirements at all) and just likes to sit on a sunny windowsill. I can talk to it and it listens like it understands me. It already knows some tricks like "sit" and "stay" but hasn't got the hang of "roll over" without help yet. If it ever does I'll know there is an earthquake coming!

They seem to be a national company but not sure if there is one in your area.
We have a couple of them locally and they are actually very good with the animals and provide very good animals that are well taken care of.
