Just a thought - maybe they meant payment verification?
I've my charge cards set up so online billing* for anything triggers an email to me with the biller and the amount. It's almost instantaneous.
Paraphrasing Yogi Berra (I guess it's a day for quoting him): "It ain't billed 'till it's billed".
* also any charge over a settable threshold and gas stations.

Hmm. I can think of a company or two where I'd like to try it.
Of course, what I would fix would be their ability to continue foisting their crap on an unsuspecting world create software...

Yes, I have considered doing something like this!
And there are a few companies I'd like to buy just to fix them according to my preferences, were I to win the lottery jackpot.
Problem is (as far as these fantasy plans go), most companies where I would like to change something as an employee are too big to be able to guarantee working on the thing that bothers me, and most companies I'd love to buy (were I a lottery winner) are too big even for a lottery winner to buy.

Not quite the same thing, but still worth a mention:
A few weeks ago some guy reverse-engineered Grand Theft Auto Online's loading code, and figured out where it was spending so much time (as I understood the summary: a badly-written JSON parser). He submitted a fix and the publisher implemented it into a patch shortly thereafter.
I can personally vouch that loading time has been cut down substantially. And it had been plaguing the game since day one.

Kubernetes for beginners.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
