Fishing in the bottom drawer for my HP-35....
Funny as hell a couple of years ago watching my then 8yo grand daughter trying to wrap her head round RPN.
Cheers,
Peter

I've got my college HP48CX downstairs with the batteries taken out (still worked fine), and an emulator I use on my phone for my calculator.

My step-dad, an electrical engineer, bought an HP-35 when they first came out. I believe he still has it, and it is still in working order.

In the very early days of calculators, there were 4-function models and significantly more expensive 5-function models - the fifth function was square root.
A friend of mine saved money buying the 4-function model, hoping that it really could do square root as well, even if the button for it was missing; there was only a flat grey square in its position. Hopefully, it would be possible to solder in a small pushbutton.
So my friend found a scalpel for cutting the flat grey square open. And out popped a button with a square root symbol on top. Not only could the calculator do square root, it even had the button for it hidden under the blind cover!

I'll leave it to OG to post the solution.

Does that mean I now will have two bodies to hide? This is going to turn into a Bruce Willis movie if we aren't careful ...

Our self imposed handicapping system is not working - I'm trying to make the clues easier ( yesterdays wasn't a good clue in hindsight ) but it still seems to be you that solves most of them - I know what the problem is !!! IT'S YOU you are barred forthwith

I am trying to figure out how to train an AI to solve these and then I will feed it random words to see what answers it generates.
So far all I can come up with is
Requirements:
1. Answer must appear in dictionary
2. Length of answer matches number in ()
GEN?

GEN | meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary[^]
It's from "general information" in military parlance, apparently.
