I don't know, but the reason most ghosts are white is they're created when people die while trying to fold a duvet.

|

Simple: Don't wash everything else with the duvet ...
The real magic comes when trying to get the duvet inside the duvet cover when you have a cat to help you ...

Pixies. Though the more scientific explanation probably involves centrifugal (or the other one, can never figure out which is the right one) forces during the spin cycle.

Duvets think they are basking sharks.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

Flip the duvet cover inside out

I have a pair of lined shorts that has a 2in/5cm rip in the lining.
Somehow socks manage to find their way in there.
A duvet cover seems like it would be equivalent to a blue whale in the washing machine and dryer.

Everything? Please - we know for a fact that one sock is not in there by the end of the load!
If you can't laugh at yourself - ask me and I will do it for you.

Ah, now that would be the Eater of Socks, which is witchcraft, or rather, wizardcraft.
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

Even if you don't have anything in the duvet's corners coming out of the wash, the cat will be there as soon as you try to put it on the bed.

I would say science but one could argue that witchcraft is also valid since the problem is too complex. It depends on many factors like the washing machine being horizontal or vertical, the type of cycle, size of drum, amount and size of whatever else is in there, fabric weaving and shape of every piece, etc.
Personally never had anything end up inside the duvet cover. Ever. But the bed sheets wrapping around everything else happens a lot. And they get so tightly packed that I sometimes doubt if they are washed
The solution I found is to put those pieces alone inside a washing machine net with small enough holes that nothing can get inside.
If nothing works for you, you can always try feeding it before washing

There is a product called wadfree (.com) where you pin the four corners of the sheets together.
I have not used it.

Thank you. Did not knew about that but doesn't it just turn a sheet into a bag? I have watched some videos of that product and they always wash the sheet alone. Hmmm...
Anyway, the bag I use has holes just big enough so that lint can came out but (even the smallest) socks can not go in, the sheet does not wrap and only cost me 1€ a long time ago.

This happens not only to you.
My hypothesis is that: it is easier for garments to enter the duvet, than to leave it.

Same thing happens when I wash the bedsheets. the all wind up wrapped in the fitted sheet.

Because you insist on washing everything with the duvet cover. It is a message from the duvet great beyond.

Yasunori Nishiki - Octopath Traveler Main Theme[^]
I've been listening to a lot of game soundtracks lately and Spotify recommended Octopath Traveler.
It's a game from 2018 and I remember reading about it, got mostly positive reviews at the time.
The album on Spotify starts with this song and I was instantly hooked.
Even though I've never played it, it sounded familiar, like old school JRPG, it sometimes reminds me of the Ni No Kuni soundtrack as well, it's beautiful and somehow relaxing.
Looked up some trailers and reviews and it's indeed a JRPG developed by none other than Square Enix (from my favorite franchise, Final Fantasy) with a retro pixelated look.
Needless to say, I wanted to play this game, but unfortunately it was originally released on Switch and has since been ported to Steam, Xbox and even Google Stadia, but not PlayStation, my preferred platform
Hopefully they'll make a PlayStation port someday and until that time I'll just listen to the soundtrack instead

My teenage son tells me most of his friends and kids at school and surrounding areas are moving away from console games and playing PC games. No one I know plays console games. However, that is the trend her my area of New York USA, and most likely is not the same where you are at or other places in the world.
I also read that Sony is extremely worried now that Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard and what that will mean for there PlayStation future.

I used to be a PC gamer, but now that it's my work I prefer to spend my evenings on the couch and PlayStation is perfect for that.
There are also plenty of great PS exclusives, like most Final Fantasies, Horizon, God of War...
I haven't heard of PS losing customers, or maybe because of the global chip shortage and it being almost impossible to get a PS5 at all (but that's also true for Xbox and many PC parts).
Having the best exclusives was always a thing between Xbox and PS, and so far I think PS was winning.
Maybe Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard is turning the tides, but I wouldn't be too worried (as a consumer, not saying Sony shouldn't take some form of action).
