For over two years, we have a cat Simba, which came in as a kitten.
Now, in mid-July this year, a neighbour brought us a little kitten, whom we named as Coco, and is growing with us ever since. Just as Coco came in, Simba got angry and went outside. Simba refuses to come inside the house, and just eats the food which we place outside. When we try to bring Simba inside the house, it senses the smell of Coco and hisses, gets angry 😠 and runs away.
My daughter calls Simba as an Attitude cat. Have you seen such Attitude cats 🐈?

No, while the old cat fought with the new cat in the house, they eventually, within weeks began to get along.

On some "cat shows" they just lock them up in the same room for a while (with food, etc). I think it's more the "newness" factor. My cat had a thing about ceiling fans at first ("wings from above"?)

I come from a "dog" family, but I own a cat now. Long story, nm. Yet, there was this kitten at the fence door, because it couldn't jump it. My 12 yr old cat meowed at it for weeks from the opposite side.
He could smell it the kitten, get used to it and heard sounds of distress.
It now jumps the fence to visit. Goedzo cannot go outside the fence, due to a electric pet fence I don't want him shitting in the neighbors garden and hanging out with stray cats that have lice.
No other cats are allowed in this garden, as he sees them as competitors to his food. Just this one cat comes visit us

Cats can be complicated. I do like some.
Dogs usually are not.
Dogs are also very malleable.
Dogs and humans share a long history of co-habitation.
They can relate.
Done.
P.S. I do not own a dog because of spouse allergies, but I would if I could.

Yeah, a friend of mine had the same with her cat.
The new cat got run over after about a year ( ) after which the older cat started coming inside the house again.
We're not sure if the older cat pushed the younger one on the road.
