Check the auto-forwarding options to make sure his new password was not automatically forwarded to another account. Also, at the bottom, Gmail has a link for when you last logged in and which IP was used. If you click it, it should show you the last X instances.

AFAIK GMail starts deleting messages without a label and which are not archived after a certain timeframe.
If your father hasn't used labels and / or the archive-button for incoming emails (I assume he used neither one of both, since you say that he hates tech) GMail might have deleted the old messages in order to free a bitta space.
You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colon."

It looks like my project would be better served as a blog, rather than a series of articles. Does anyone have any recommendations for a blogging site?

Either I have missed something, or everybody here seemed to think an article series were better. I can only confirm that, unless your main requirement is to keep "people" (who ?) informed in a timely manner about the development. But to document the result, it is far more better as an article in my opinion, plus the visibility you gain on CP.
You may also want to blog on CP, same features as for the articles, with the "blog effect" added. Here is where we reader would follow you : http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/BlogArticleList.aspx?amid=10103433[^].

Don't remove your article just yet. I'm putting some comments in there that I hope will help - and in this case, I think Griff is wrong (and right at the same time).

I've been wrong before - but not normally right as well...

Sure. I've posted a new version of the article. I'd like your opinion, when you get a chance.

I hear there's a site that allows you to create technical blogs specifically for developer perusal, and has such treats as code formatting without too much pissing about.
Hmm, where was that site, again?
Hang on, let me check my bookmarks.

In my packet of fags this morning there was a little leaflet which reads:
"Smoking is banned in pubs and possibly cars and homes. Where does that leave you... smoking in the cold? Europe's 2nd highest tobacco tax, cigarettes hidden behind closed doors in supermarkets and stores. Isn't it time to say enough is enough? Know the issues and take action at know-more.co.uk"
Probably it leaves me strapped to an oxygen cylinder or in a box. People say Tobacco firms are 'evil'. I'm inclined to agree. This progress in public health is to be challenged apparently all so Phillip Morris' share price doesn't dive.
