Saves plugging a fragile connector into an even more fragile socket. Which has got to be good in the long term, considering how difficult it is to repair a modern phone, and the energy cost of manufacture!

That is an exceptionally good point. The knackered connector is usually one of the things which prompts me to get a new phone!

Flip to Silence is in my opinion a Thing every phone should be able to do...
Nice Feature

|
|

What happens if it is face down already? I presume if you flip it around to see who's calling it doesn't do that?

Rob Philpott.

Yes indeed.
i asked my Senior, who owns the lumia 1020 (elephanting cool phone )
if it already is lying face-down you can flip it to see who´s calling and by flipping it again, it quiets down...

The feature is not available anymore for the moment AFAIK.

I've been doing that for years: flip the finger and you get silence.

That works on all phones, if you flip them hard enough.

Inductive Charging[^] is what you are talking about. It is a good idea but there are some disadvantages too, so maybe not every phone but I would like to see it done in a standard way and adopted widely. (Wouldn't it be nice to set your phone on a table at a restaurant or coffee shop and have it charge it.)
Oh, anyone talking about health concerns from the magnetic fields should follow the link and read what this is. (The fields are small and localized. It's NOT some gigantic field to cover your house/office/...)

I have the Nokia as well, the inductive charging feature is way under marketed. To nice for those of us on call to just be able to pick the darn phone up to answer a call.
For the times that the cord is needed putting on the top of the phone is a huge pain. It's always in the way.
Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.
