Thanks! I managed most of the heavy lifting unassisted but I couldn't quite get it onto the top shelf.

English doesn't borrow from other languages.
English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Wow, just googled Thong - did not know that Thong was the English word. In French, it is called a "string", which is pretty accurate IMO
Anyway, I ended up on the wikipedia article, and they have a very good example picture[^] - slightely NSFW (I know, the warning gives it away).

I see you can submit an article. Well this is an article.
I can also submit a tip / trick' I guess it's a short article needing less preparation
And you can also submit a 'reference'.. what is that?
A reference is even less than a Tip.
By the way, you can have a look at the article FAQ, too - Code Project Article FAQ[^].
An article is a technical document, including source code, background information for source code and a compiling source code example.
An article typically shows an idea, or an attempt, without a complete source code to download.
A reference is... uhmm... Honestly: I have no idea what that type was made for - I guess it is to have something to avoid Tips only having a few lines of code.
Maybe the Submission Guidelines[^] can help you further.
It's quite easy to imagine a Reference as just that: A reference to some other resource, with zero or little real content in the reference itself.
I know I got the initial idea of a tip/trick wrong, I thought oh great I can drop my 1 and 2 liner snippets here and just grab them when I like - I think it has evolved into a mini article format so my midget contribution look quite anemic.
I'll stick to snippets for now.

As far as I'm concerned you're using the tips/tricks the right way.
It's always the same problem to define where the border between a tip and an article goes.
And I also believe that where many articles in the older times got voted down for lacking content, they're now told to convert it to a Tip/trick instead. I can't really complain about that.
Politicians are always realistically manoeuvering for the next election. They are obsolete as fundamental problem-solvers.
