Even though you posted that in the wrong forum I give you the credit of "not knowing it better" - I'd recommend you to try Ranorex[^] for GUI - Testing. They provide a great .Net & TFS integration, and a 30 day trial is free.

Following last years App Innovation contest I obviously needed a code signing certificate which I obtained from Global Sign. (because the other lot took so longer to do anything).
Unfortunately, GS have withdrawn the individuals code certificates.
I have looked at a few others, but the cost is excessive for what I can see, approx 4x price I paid last year for GS.
Anyone recommend who to use for personal (not business) code signing certificates (windows applications), that is a reasonable price?

Self-signed. All other prices aren't reasonable.

Tucows also resells comodo certificates through their author resource center, at the lowest
price I've seen.

BTW, there's something incomprehensible about the business models involved. Tucows sells Comodo certificates for half the price that Comodo will sell you a certificate directly, but all of the
actual work is done by Comodo.
I agree with the other postings that dealing with Comodo is a pain, considering the fundamental bogosity
of the whole verification process, they make it a painful and time consuming charade to play out.

K software[^] I have not used them, but is reasonably priced.

Good info. We have been using Thawte, overpriced at around $250/yr., for many years. Bookmarked for next year. Thanks!

I second K-Software. They are reselling Comodo certificates for significantly less money than what Comodo charge. The Comodo part is Kafkaesque with indolent support (you need pliers to pull out any intelligible information); it seems that K-Software may help if you get stuck. If you survive Comodo's initiation rites, the rest is a breeze.

Different type of certificate - that is a SSL certificate, used for SHTML.
Dave is talking about Code Signing certificates, which mean that the publisher comes up for installation of the software, rather than a "do you trust this?" message.
An example would be: http://www.codeproject.com/services/certificates/[^] - it also explains what they are and what they do.

Oh I thought even we could use these certificates for signing our application. Last time when I participated for Intel UltraBook Code Challenge , I happened to certify my executable and all participants got a free certificate for code signing from Comodo.
Thanks,

The CodeProject certificates are issued by Comodo.

There is always CodeProject: http://www.codeproject.com/services/certificates/[^]

Hi Dave,
I have renewed my Comodo Code Signing Certificate from the last year through www.thesslstore.com[^] (I guess it's their biz partner). New cert. works fine with all my app submissions (which are planned to be commercial products, eventually).
My best, DrABELL

I gave up on Comodo, they just took too long to respond to document submissions and if I had been in the same room as some of their reps, I feel some of them may have had a skelp.

In my case it took about one week, which, IMHO, is reasonable processing time. I am not quite familiar with other Certificate Authorities, but, frankly, it's hard to believe they can process the order much faster than that. Please, share some of your practical experience with other CA in regards to obtaining code signing certificates. My best, DrABELL

GlobalSign was painless, applied, sent documents, phonecall, done. I think it was all done in less than 48 hours.
The biggest problem with Comodo was the public visibility on sites etc. Despite sending links and screenshots demonstrating my public visibility e.g. UK Phone Book, and (i can't remember now) another site which they specified, they still didn't believe I had met the criteria. The phone exchanges (me to them) and email exchanges, they still wouldn't phone me directly to verify contact details. The whole process was a sham. All the documents were valid as well, passport, driving license, utility bills/bank statements.

That sounds like a good alternative. Is it completely free as per their ads?

I haven't seen their ads, but I paid about (110 ukp) at the time. They no longer to code signing certificates for Individuals however. None of their remaining products are what was looking for, hence looking for the alternative certificate provider.
