You sure Wales isn't a big mammalian fish?

Positive.
It doesn't rain as much inside "big mammalian fish" as it does here...

I'd guess just outside of the fish is generally wetter.

According to this[^] Wales has been inhabited by modern humans[^] for at least 29,000 years.

This is why I don't go near Cardiff or Swansea late at night.
Judging by the TV though, it's the same everywhere...
Personally, I blame 24 hour drinking. When we had to stop at 11PM (unless we wangled a lockin) we were home before we needed to throw up, fight, pee in the streets, etc. And if we did get a lockin, we were careful not to attract attention on the way out to make sure it happened again!

We haven't had a major change in opening hours since the middle 80ies - but things have still gone steadily downhill. Now, a beer, in a pub or bar, usually sets you back about kr. 100 (£10) - so getting really sloshed is a bit expensive, so how kids in their early twenties can afford to do it twice each weekend is astounding.

I gave up serious drinking some years ago, so I don't know from personal experience how much beer is these days - but t'interweb suggests around £4~5, which would have crippled me as a student / young person. I also cannot understand how the young can afford it (particularly if they do it regularly, which gives some immunity to drunkenness anyway!)

Personally I don't like to feel tipsy - but I enjoy a beer every now and then.

I suspect some get way too much 'pocket money' - I guess that if they earned it themselves, most would be a bit more careful about spending it on serious drinking. Giving your kids something like a £150 each week, seems like a bad way to prepare them for adult life.

I wish my wife would let me have that much pocket money each week!

While certainly not all parents, far to many have spoiled their children.
And I guess it's hard to break the habbit of saying yes to every whim when they reach adolescence, and things starts to get rather expensive.

Maybe in some posh London pubs; elsewhere, £2.50 - £3.50 is more normal.

The first one, tagged "Commissioning Service". There's a tall black guy (Ike) on the right side in the back row. I'm the old guy just to the right of him, hidden by my young friend Matt.
