Haven't written a cheque in decades. No wonder he's never heard of it!
GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

You should have given them a check for p2, and told them to be grateful for the upgrade.

I had an 8088 machine too, but something else sticks in my mind.
Many ... many years ago, our office was putting together a group purchase of 486 motherboards. I was waffling on spending the money. That Sunday, the opening hymn was on page 486. That made up my mind! I was on a mission from GOD!!!
And besides $486 is cheaper unless you get pick and demand $80486 !!!
Footnote: There was a reason the boards were cheap... flaky DMA made the floppy drive useless. After putting up with non-sense for years I gave the POS away with the provision that it never be sold... which it was !!! The cows came home when the buyer complained to me about the board and I filled him in on the truth!!!

I was talking about the BBC production of 1984 (the 1954 version). It's available if you take a bit of a scout.
Don't think that they ever made an 8084 chip, or even an ICL 1984. Could be wrong.

Been a little absent the past couple days, on Tuesday Mrs. Wife and I went to get induced. Well 22 hours later on 1/29 @ 12:46 am our first kid Emma Adalyn was born. 8lb 14oz (4.02kg), a lot bigger than anybody had expected considering the wife was only 3 days overdue. The wife is doing ok considering she had to be taken to surgery right after the baby made her appearance. She had to get a blood transfusion last night and I'm heading back there now.
Anyway, as soon as I get her typing, I'll get her coding. Reserve member 129201446 for her .

Congratulations to you both!
Welcome to the world, little 129201446, I hope it treats you well.

Congrats. 1 is a big change. 2 kids is a big change. 3 or more and you don't even notice the difference anymore.

I don't intend to get a third child so I would find out, but I have a guy at work that has three children that would strongly challenge that statement.

Wimps!
With two you're always busy. One for each parent. So, 3 or 10, you're still always busy. always = always.

Well, he would put it a bit differently. You have only two hands.
So the next hurdle is at five kids.

“Oh, you can't help that,” said the Cat: “we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.”
“How do you know I'm mad?” said Alice.
