I just checked my local forecast and it's yellow warnings for rain the whole way through to tomorrow with red wind over night. It could be worse, it could be yellow snow.

Colleague decided to have an Apple phone instead of something that works.
He wants his works email on it.
Entering the account details that are the same as the one's on the Mail Server on his PC means he still cannot get mail on his Worm-ridden pocket weight.
Is there anyone who knows how to resolve this?
I think the prob may be the outgoing SMTP address.

OK, in order to GET MAIL he needs to set up his mail account.
On the set up it fails.
I think it is failing on the SMTP portion.

Seriously:
Check everything that has been entered (account, password, mail address, server names, ports, SSL).
Setup failures will occur when the connection to one of the servers fails. Your colleague may also use his PC to check if the servers are actually online (his works email is your companies mail?).

I did this without any problems on
+ My private iPhone for my Yahoo-mail
+ My work iPhone, exchange.
I never saw any SMTP stuff or "ingoing/outgoing" fields. All I entered was my full email address and password [and "name"]. Under the first step: settings > e-mail > add account I guess it is important to keep your eyes open and select the closest corresponding option, or experiment with differnt ones.
In a normal desktop client I usually suffer quite a hassle to set-up IMAP (to get folders replicated) but my phone figured it all out in a flash.
My tupence, hope it helps a bit...

If he is connecting to an Exchange server, they server must have ActiveSync enabled. I can't recall if this is at the server level or user level.
It has been a couple of years since this was set up and I was on the edge anyway, not sure if I am remembering correctly.
Also it does seem to me like I have had a problem where I was able to get incoming mail (pop or imap) set up but still fail on outgoing (smtp).
