I used the British-built RISC OS for many years. Not sure LEO can run a good enough GUI for modern development!

Now that you mention it, yes it does, in which case it was invented by a Dutch and Norwegian collaboration.
It looks like they liked the Amerilish spelling rather than the British rendition.
Could it be that the W3C headquarters is located in the USA (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) had anything to do with that?
