It is addictive, but after I figured out how to beat it, I can now get to 2048 about two out of three times. You still need some luck to avoid the layout where your only move is to break your neat and tidy formation.

Keep the largest tile in a corner and the rest "more or less sorted" around it.
The randomness can still shaft you, but it's a good strategy.

Speaking of things that are not usually said in polite company, can you say porcine epidemic diarrhea[^].
The price of pork was already getting higher because farmers have cut back on pork production due to the high price of feed after the 2012 drought.
A new strain of porcine epidemic diarrhea will further cut down the supply of pork which will cause prices of pork go even higher.

With more of us realizing the opportunity of persuing our dreams and being subsidized by ole Uncle Sam we can afford the rising price of EVERYTHING?

Speak for yourself...I got the local tax bill for the year today.
(Called "Council Tax" - how much they overcharge you to live in your own home while they don't provide any noticeable services...but do pay councilors)

I sympathize with you, I paid taxes from 16 to 61 and living in FL for 27 years I paid dearly.

Yes...
They tax you for working.
They tax you for going to work.
They tax you for eating so you can live to work.
They tax you for the housing you need to sleep in, in order to work.
They tax you for the medical bills to bring the next generation of taxpayers into the world.
And then, if you have any money left to spend, they tax you for everything you spend the money on.
And if you decide not to pay any taxes, they put you in a big building with loads of other like minded people so you can pick up loads of tips. They call these "Prisons" and "Congress" in the US, but we have similar institutions for holding criminal types...

And here in the US we watch every email, phone call, etc. that you make so that if you say stuff like they can call IRS to harass audit you so you can pay a little more.

Keep your diary free for the 12th of July
I have bought 4 tickets for this year's Chaps Olympiad[^]
She Who Must Be Obeyed and my good self would be pleased for you to join us for Gin, Pimms and Hijinks.
I have paid for the tickets, so you would be our guests, but if the urge to throw some token of your appreciation toward us were to overwhelm you then feel free to act upon it!
Dress code is 'Chap', no denim or trainers, and no sportswear except cricket whites.
Hats preferred but not obligatory.
Would you and the memsahib be up for it?
Let me know asap.

I don't want to sound critical, but memsahib.
Is that politically correct to be used in polite company?

Thank you for the invitation, but we will have to respectfully decline on this occasion.
We are off to the Orient and will be traveling here for the foreseeable future.
We will be happy to meet up for some food and drink if we get back to your corner of the world.

Been a while, guess no one remember me anymore (if you do, you have been here too long)
But I'm back. Was quite active in here in the good old days, before Bob (and a bit after), and now I thought it was about time to stop by again.
Looking forward to see what CP has worked out to be
