I think the first thing we (and the media especially) need to do is drop "right" and "left" labels.
They're polarizing and rarely cover the subject.
For example, we have this "right-wing" politician, Wilders, you might've heard of him.
His main policy is to stop immigration and to "de-Islamify" our country, so naturally he's far right.
The thing is though, that's his only "right" item on the agenda, economically and socially he's as "left" as can be.
"The right believes the elections have been hacked."
That's not "right", that's conspiracy thinking (as long as there is no evidence anyway).
"The left bomb new movie for lack of diversity."
That's not left, that's a group of "woke" people, often more "facist" (considered extremely "right") than "left", who've made it their hobby to find racism in everything (which is racist in itself, really).
Thing is, it's not left, or maybe so far left it's right again, I don't know.
I do know there are plenty of "left" people (probably most of them) who are really tired of "wokism".
Left and right used to mean something, although I don't think there's a strict definition.
To me, the left is for a government that regulates markets and wealth, and right is more in favor of letting the market run its course and let people fend for themselves.
Both have their merit in certain scenario's and it's rarely just one or the other.
However, with how everyone's shouting "left" and "right" these days they've lost all meaning and they've become terms to make us fight each other.
And for the record, American liberals (or "libtards", because they're left and so not right and that makes everything about them wrong) would be considered (far) right in most European countries, go figure.

I've always been of the opinion that any religion or political party (but I repeat myself) can be partly judged by how well they control their fringe elements. Certain religions are currently doing better than others but political parties across the globe are failing badly.
There is good reason why I refuse to be a member of either institution.

The problem is we have proof that US elections are being hacked. In 2016 there were several precincts in our upper MidWest that recorded more votes than there were eligible voters. There's computer forensic evidence (I've seen and read it) that shows the voting machines in Mesa County, Colorado were tampered with in the 2020 elections, with early voting results actually destroyed as a result.
What we don't know is if these types of issues are widespread enough to have changed election outcomes.

The Pournelle Political Axes
You may wish to read this, which is a short summary of the late Jerry Pournelle's views on the subject. Briefly, he places political "isms" on at least two axes, rather than the "standard" left vs. right. He doesn't claim that his division is perfect, only that it makes more sense than the one-dimensional division.
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.

Everything I've read indicates our liberals are closer to European centrists. The big difference between the left and right right now, as far as I can see, is that the 'left' at least acknowledges we are all in this together, and need to make a better world taking as many people into consideration as possible. The 'right' seems to think it is only the survival of the fittest, and we should cull everyone else.

Not just journalists. Nowadays, everyone is trying to indoctrinate everyone else. The only difference is that journalists have more reach.

Very hard even with multiple binary searches and using a map. Never heard of this place.

Really ?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!" - Hunter S Thompson - RIP

That was Mayotte. Looks like it is not a full fledged country, but more a French colony.
