(I obviously misunderstood OG post below )
What date would you choose and why?

June 30, 1974.
It was my birthday, and I lost something.
It'd be nice to lose it again.

Don't be silly... When have you ever heard of a guy that is born with an afro?
AND loses it the same day?
(We're not talking about one of Griff's girlfriends, are we?)

He din't told he born on that specific day - it was his birthday...
Think of a birthday present, that when you got it you actually lose something - but it nice either way...

If what you mean is restore and potentially change the course of history:
Let's say 1453, when the Imperial_Library_of_Constantinople[^] was destroyed. Or you could go earlier, to the destruction of the Library_of_Alexandria[^]
It would have been amazing if those libraries had survived.
Another good option would be the conception of Hitler. As in, to prevent it.

That's indeed what I meant.
And, I really like your thinking, so much knowledge that could have been kept if those libraries hadn't been destroyed.
But in the case of Hitler, I don't know. Problem was that history was moving in that direction anyway. And I don't dare to think where we would be today if Hitler would have been exchanged for someone slightly smarter with just slightly less balls. (Yes less balls, not more. It's easier to start a fight than winning it)

The big problem with something like that is you have no idea what the alternative would be.
for example no Hitler, but Germany needed someone strong and charismatic to drag them from recession so we get someone similar but what if they were also a competent military commander and less impulsive or at least would listen to his generals
Germany may not have lost the War
or how about no Hitler so no German rearmament but Stalin let loose, would Europe have been better with Stalin on the rampage rather than Hitler?
it's could definitely be a case of careful what you wish for

Purely hypothetical, but I'm curious to know what people would wish for, and why.

And while in I've not heard of it before, it's not a bad idea[^]
So, have YOU backed up recently?
Have you tested it?
