Pi-Hole works great to block the image overlays that appear at the bottom center of the videos (although you still get a "broken image" rectangle outlining where the ad would be), but can't do anything for video ads interrupting whatever you're watching, unfortunately.
If I absolutely insist on watching something that's particularly long (without the interruptions), I use youtube-dl to download the video locally and watch it later. But if it's just me watching random videos I don't particularly care about...I just put up with it (barely).

The tube has increased the number of ads they show people. Google is also taking steps to eliminate ad blockers in Chrome. They really, really want you to view their adverts but that doesn't mean you have to.

Had to look that up.
Same letters as yesterday and that one gave me headaches too.
Today, I got stuck to only two possible words in the English dictionary and I didn't know one of them

Today, for some reason (mostly because I stumbled upon it on the start menu/button/win11 thingy), I updated my Java installation.
Litte did I know then, as the installer informed me, Java is the #1 developer platform!
OMG! I missed out all these years!

And there was me thinking it was #2.

So, I ran across an article this morning that triggered some questions. Someone has come up with a whiz bang way of making great store sights and helping developers churn them out:
Mixing It Up: Remix Joins Shopify to Push the Web Forward — Development (2022)[^]
My question is sort of surveyish, as I have some history in the area of developing shopping carts (nightmares mostly). Frankly, where I would do store fronts, the entire environment was dominated by Ebay, Amazon, Etsy, etc. We had a number of businesses that wanted their own store front (to avoid the ridiculous fees being charged). It did not matter what incentive you provided customers. No one ever went to the store front. It all came down to saving 0.05 cents on an order off amazon and getting free shipping.
Is this just an example of someone trying to solve a problem that has already left the station?
0z10AA hat tip to you
