Happy Anniversary. Am I late?
Don't mind those people who say you're not HOT. At least you know you're COOL.

Today it is exactly 100 years ago that the shots in Sarajevo on Franz Ferdinand, the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, happened. In a series of events, made possible mostly by a series of incompetent political decisions, it is recognised as the starting point that launched the first world war. As horrible as it was, it was in essence a trench war; meaning that there was some time for shenanigans behind the lines[^]. Although I think people still are being killed from unexploded shells...
Other earth shattering events that has formed the history on the date 28 june:
28. june 1389 The Serbian king Lazar was beaten outside Kosovo by the Ottomans.
28. june 1709 The Swedish king Karl XII is defeated in Poltava (Ukraine) by Peter the Great's army
28. june 1919 the Germans are forced to sign the Versailles treaty, that eventually launches the second world war.
So, lets hope none of you (or anybody else for that matter) does something equally stupid today...

Sep 25, 1958: World War I formally ended between Andorra and Germany. (though I had heard that they formally met with German officials to end WWI and immediately signed up for WWII. Since their entire military budget for 1962 was $4.90 I would imagine the enemy weren't exactly frightened...
Costa Rica on the other hand is still technically at war with Germany since they did not attend the Treaty of Versailles (and that meant they didn't declare war on Germany for WWII either, because it seemed unnecessary so weren't included in the peace for that one either!)

Andorra, they didn't have a border with the occupying German forces did they. It was the Vichy government that had that border.

As we on the subject or barely significant history; did you know that the Vatican was made a country during Mussolini's rule?

I would have made it a mall.

About 1000 or so is living there; I guess thats a normal mall in US? (In Norway a normal mall in a big city has about 10 - 15 permanent inhabitants in their teens, or so it seems.

It's time again for the usual July 4th week vacation! This time we are going to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM. We have a day trip scheduled to Durango, CO. It's my second time there, and I hope this time is as enjoyable as the first. Too bad such a lovely trip must be endured with traveling companions (brother in-law and father in-law) who don't stop talking for more than a few seconds at a time.

Really? Is Chrome all that much faster that Google has to shove that message in my face every single day? And on a machine that already has Chrome too (as well as three other browsers).

It doesn't do that to me - It sits there, it browses the web, it looks good, it works.
Where is it shoving the message from?

It's a lot faster, because, if you're using chrome, three-quarters of your system resources aren't dedicated to trying to con you into using chrome.

If you would like to receive alerts when the ISS is passing overhead go to http://spotthestation.nasa.gov/[^] and sign up with your location.
It is interesting to see it passing overhead knowing that there people on board. You'll be amazed at how fast it is traveling.
Once you lose your pride the rest is easy.
I would agree with you but then we both would be wrong.
