Things we've accomplished after one week:
- Engine is installed
- Transmission is installed
- Front suspension reinstalled
- Clutch/brake peddle assembly is installed
- Mechanical gas pedal is installed
- Throttle cable is installed
- Driveshaft has been modified to work with new transmission
- Fuel system has been adapted to accept return line
- Driver's seat has been reinstalled
- We've determined that my current hood will fit (there was concern)
Things left to do:
- Build exhaust system (hopefully toda)
- Get headers ceramic coated
- Run fuel return line
- Adapt cooling system to new engine requirements (dickin' around with hoses)
- Install fuuel pressure regulator and connect to fuel system
- Install carburetor and connect to fuel system
- Install fuel pressure gauge
- Connect clutch line
- Install ignition module and ignition coil
- Fabricate a bracket to mount the expansion tank behind the driver's side headlight
- Modify the air cleaner base to allow it to be used in the space available
- Install air/fuel gauge
- Electrical system modification

I now know why US roads are straight - you can't build cars that go round corners

US roads are straight because the the country is a lot wider than euro countries. I don't know where you got the idea that American cars can't go around corners. I remember Fords kicking Ferarri's ass four consecutive years at LeMans. And let's not forget that McLaren and Corvettes are American make as well. With modern "decent" cars, most of the actual art of driving is monitored and controlled by a computer - yes, even and especially euro cars.
Finally, my own car isn't set up for straight line acceleration (I prefer using the steering wheel, clutch, throttle, and brakes rather than just stab-n-go drag racing). I've also disabled as much of the computer as I could reasonably get away with.

Last time I was in Texas, they still hat parking spaces which were big enough to park a MBT sideways, had a speed limt of 55 miles per hour and at this speed it seemed like days when you finally encountered a curve in the road
So, do you plan to install a three gear gearbox ao will it be two gears for the sound? You will probably never need more.
The language is JavaScript. that of Mordor, which I will not utter here
I hold an A-7 computer expert classification, Commodore. I'm well acquainted with Dr. Daystrom's theories and discoveries. The basic design of all our ship's computers are JavaScript.

6-speed manual (with a stick instead of gay flappy paddles) - haven't you been paying attention?

why? surely with what you have done to the engine you have a good spread of torque, why would you need 6 gears? sounds like something is not right, either your engine is deficient in some aspects or you have gone overboard with the gearbox

Blame elephanting Peanut[^] for the 55mph speed limits. Dunno when Texas finally gave 55 the boot; but it was repealed federally back in '87. Now as part of it's eternal quest to have the biggest everything, it's 85 MPH speedlimits are the highest in the nation (unless you count Montana's failed attempt to go autobahn on the interstate for a few years in the 90s).
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Sorry to burst your bubble but that ford that beat the ferraris was british designed and built it had to be as the previous US attempts got nowhere
Also since when were mclaren a us company? Its based in woking and was started by an Austrialian corvettes I will give you but they are naff handling cars
As to electronics I would rather have a litle help than have the wallowing monsters the US turn out, solid rear axles on a sports car? Europe gave up on that silly idea in the 50s, antilock brakes? sounds sensible, power ASSISTED steering (rather than the US version which used to work at all time - not sure if they still do this!),
fuel injection? well of course far more efficient and practical than the old fashioned carb, now you can of course go too far (see things like the Nissan GTR's a car that IIRC is not actually available in Europe except as a special import) and ultra high end super cars where then need to control what the driver can do as the majority of owners will be rich but lacking in skill - and since when have US cars had less electronics than the European ones?
if you want no frills proper driving then you still can do worse than a Lotus 7 clone (caterham for example) over 50 years old and still more of a drivers car than your tank

Yeah, but that loop is applicable to all cars, regardless of the type of fuel they use. So what's your point?
