Congrats on the job. I've been looking for a few weeks, only getting good interviews this week, but so far nobody technical has ever even mentioned my articles on my CV. On the positive thinking side, maybe I must write a few more to fill a page with links and make them noticeable. On the other hand, maybe I must remove them.

What I did was "casually" mentioning them myself.
Them: "So, what would you do when [situation]"
Me: "Well, what I would do, and I learned this bit when writing an article for CodeProject, is [stuff I would do]"
Try to ignore that!
It's an OO world.

Duncan Edwards Jones wrote: other moderators do an even better job than I did
The moderator forum is full of thread entitled "This not an article", "Who agreed to let this article pass through moderation" aso.
This dicussion already took place, and I'd probably toss more than 50% of the articles away that made it through moderation, but from what I understood, my standards are too high - which is BTW the reason why I have never ever written anything, since anything I could write would land in the "Another 50 lines article including 47 lines of code".
Not everybody is able to write good article - actually few are able to - and mass does not account for quality.

Quote: I'd do both - the mark of 1 is important in moving the article down the rankings so someone searching is not as readily directed to it.
I actually didn't know that, so that's useful information.

The article is crap and should be buried, so as not to pop up in search results (Google, CP internal, etc...). Comments may help, but do not allow to make bad things visible. Voting is moderating, commenting is showing ineffective politeness.
Also, I vote down everything by Griff, otherwise his rep would be even more rocketing

See above thread, I am too honest and too technically poor to write articles - the honesty part being that, knowing that, I do not try and write some).
Also I of course do not downvote your articles.
I mean, not only. I also downvote your posts and your comments and I spread rumors over you in your neighborhood.

Rage wrote: I vote down everything by Griff This is unnecessary now because, I have it on good authority, OG has hacked the CP servers, and all up-votes for his posts, and QA answers, and articles, are now distributed, at random, to needy CP members suffering the paralyzing agony of low-rep-count.
OG has foresworn sheep, as well as reputation, and taken up the Boddhisattva path, which I admire ... from a distance of at least 9585.25286 kilometers.

When I do vote, I try to be as honest as I can - and I ALWAYS comment, regardless of the vote. just rude not to.
I don't just sit here looking for articles to read, though. so, if I am researching something, find an article, and it turns out to be crap, I'll vote it 1 and comment as to why it is crap.
It's rare, thought, as you say - moderation gets rid of some of the real dross.
I have come across more than one article, by the same person, which is 90% plagiarised, and there I voted 1 and commented

If you spot blatant plagiarism, don't just down vote it - report it in the Spam and Abuse forum and let's get rid of it (and / or the "author")!

Perhaps I should have; in this particular case the author has many articles here, and all that I have seen are just collections of clips from other pages - the occasional one may be mentioned elsewhere in the article.
The author justifies it my saying it is useful to collect the information in one place - but is certainly implying that much of the work is original.
if I find it gain I will report it and let the panopticon dwellers decide...

I've seen that claimed in prospective articles as well: but part of the T&C's you agree to when you tick the box and press "Publish" is that you have the rights to publish all the material. If you don't, it's plagiarism, pure and simple.

If something is genuinely helpful or educational I upvote on occasions.
But I seldomly downvote as it sometimes triggers a load of revenge voting.
I'm going for the report button instead, but that also only on pure garbage.

For me, a vote of 1 entails the article was totally irrelevant and added no technical value whatsoever, or was plagiarised.

Plagiarized or irrelevant should be reported so that they can be removed rather than just downvoted.
Downvotes are for bad code, or bad methodology.

I don't anymore; I report it as poor quality or formatting or whatever.

True, but if an article has been edited, the report counter is reset to 0. So if you want to undo a report after an article has been improved, then that's not necessary because it already is undone.
