Every now and then I receive a survey from a vendor/institution/etc. asking me if I would please fill out a survey for them. On occasion, I'm in a benevolent mood and follow their link.
My advice to the people who pay for the survey (and by proxy, to those who create them):
If you ask a question, allow for the user to not answer - either explicitly, such as a radio button with "no answer" or "not applicable" or allow blanks or whatever it takes to let the user continue and not disclose whatever it is they don't want to disclose.
Two reasons why this is useful:
- For you, it reduces the number of junk-answers where a selection or ranking is given that has no relevance to the user's experience with the product. If you actually intended to do a good job then you don't want surreptitious answers.
- People just close the window and the survey's left incomplete (if any data were saved) or
undone (a commission lost?).
There's alsothe possibility the survey's true purpose is to find out what fraction of users that start actually finish, and where the decide their disgusted enough to quit.

I've stopped taking surveys... for anyone (particularly political ones).
I feel like they try to lead me to say that either option A or option B is the right choice...
In reality, they are so far off the mark, neither option is any good and I will not reinforce their behavior regardless of they choice they want to make.
People (and businesses) need to display their values to me, not take a survey (followed by creating talking points to attract my business). If I don't know their values, I don't do business with them.

Pualee wrote: I feel like they try to lead me to say that either option A or option B is the right choice... That's a way of controlling the outcome.
Either option may only involve a tiny fraction of the pinions actually held, but, by corralling the opinions into a narrow area, they can give large percentage's, that reflect nothing about reality.
Politics: would you have it any other way ?

I'd go one step further, you may need to have two non answers, "Not applicable" as well as "Don't want to answer".

This guy brings his best drinking buddy home, unannounced, for dinner at 6:30, after a few beers. His wife screams her head off while his friend sits open mouthed and listens to the tirade.
“My bloody hair & makeup are not done, the house is a f*****g mess, the dishes aren’t done. Can't you see I'm still in my f****** pajamas and I can’t be bothered with cooking tonight! Why the f*** did you bring him home unannounced you stupid idiot?"
"Because he's thinking of getting married."

A fire started in the grasslands close to a farm. The county fire department rushed to the scene, but the fire was more than they could handle. Someone suggested calling the volunteer fire department. Despite some doubt that they would be of any assistance, they were called.
The volunteers arrived in a dilapidated old fire truck. They rumbled straight towards the fire, drove right into the middle of the flames and stopped! The firefighters jumped from the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the centre of the fire and leaving two parts which were easily put out.
As the farmer watched all this, he was impressed and grateful that his house and farm had been spared. He quickly got his chequebook and donated $1000 to the volunteer fire department.
A local news reporter asked the volunteer fire captain how they planned to use the funds.
The captain replied, “The first thing we’re gonna do is get the brakes on our fire truck fixed!”

How difficult would it be to make an app that turns a old or current android phone into an extension number pad keyboard for laptops or PCs? I figured that people have their old android phones just lying around n could also be able to use it to have macro programmed button mini keyboard. So, basically take the old phone and use the micro USB to plug in and have a num pad for laptops, or even a mini macro keyboard.
Any possibility of something like that working, or does that already exist? I don't know, for some reason I think that's a pretty good app idea... Any feedback, thoughts, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even just kind of setting me in the right direction would be most appreciated. To be honest I don't even know what type of code I would need to be using to create something like this.
And just some background; I'm new to programming. I'm learning quickly on my own (I'm learning on codeacadamy and am hoping to get into some community college classes) and with help, but I'm getting basics down quick (most I've learned has been in Java for game development but I'll learn anything I need to). I really want to progress and want to get into app development along side game design which is what I go to school for.
Also I don't know, if someone with knowledge would want or be willing to help with a project like this I'd definitely be open to working with people (anyone with some experience or knowledge they'd be willing to share and teach) and helping or sharing ideas. I have a lot of app ideas but not a lot of knowledge on how to make them all work or function.
Please help me out. It may sound dumb, but I'm an artist, I'm a creative thinker and am always coming up with little tid bits of app ideas but I never really know where to go with them but I'm hoping this one goes somewhere and that someone reading this would be willing to help me in the process. Truly, any info you could provide would help me, even if it's just telling me what kind of phones might work best for this. I need help on this and I hope you may give me the time and help to make this happen. If you're someone who's willing to help me and have some patience I have other ideas that I'd like to make happen to and I'd love to share those as well and get your input. Thank you for taking the time to read this and make a consideration to help me. I know I have potential, I just need help and direction.
Thanks,
Nick. aka infamous X187Xx

This idea requires more effort than needed. Regardless of the goal or merit of it, I think it will require the following:
1. An application specific to the phone devise so that it relays the keyboard actions to the PC, connected through USB.
2. An application running on the PC, listening to the actions from the USB and sending them to the OS.
