Hi All,
As you might have gathered from the title I have been chasing my tail today with a mix of my software and hardware. I fully hang my head due to messing up a MAX232 circuit and taking stupid time to find my error. Home time cannot come quick enough!

Haven't worked with those since the nineties, can't say I've missed them either.

That's the trouble with stuff that doesn't work particularly well: it doesn't get fixed, because everyone is too busy "fixing" the stuff that already works perfectly.

Recently I took a look at this website[^].
My old computer is just the same model. His idea to hook up the little serial to USB board is interesting. No MAX232, just hooking up said CPU signals to the converter and on the software side everything stays as it was for the last 37 years.

We have a lot of legacy hardware that still uses them, I'm never too far from my breakout boxes and portable scope!

I seem to have the opposite problem...working from home today and have no problems with my stuff, however the same cannot be said for the Mrs. which meant that I had to spend over an hour this morning trying to resolve wireless issues with her work laptop and wireless printer. In the meantime, she wants to listen to iTunes on her all-in-one desktop system only to get an error message about missing files...it was working yesterday. Option two for music: use the iheartradio app...try it and it closes immediately without a message...just won't run.  Option 3 for music: wmp if I can find it...ok, that works. The all-in-one could access the printer, but not the laptop...the laptop could access the materials she needed to print (vpn), but the all-in-one could not, even through their web based system, erroring out with a 'resource not found'...blah, blah.  In the end, she emailed them to me and I printed them for her.
On a side note, it really pains me watching the way she (the mrs.) goes about trying to solve a problem. She is quick to click on the first option that appears without reading it at all, which is what caused the problem connecting to the printer in the first place...she had somehow set the home wireless network to Public, cutting off access to other network devices! It still irritates me that the printer does not have an Ethernet connection.

I am not talking about storage but for other purposes like hosting your site for demo etc.

I actually looked at my keyboard, found the keys A W S...
That's some serious thinking outside the box right there. This is encouraging me to start using my brain again. It felt really weird doing that, but quite nice. I'm going to try it again in a week or so.

I know that Hungarians have a large capacity for booze .... and Nagy has more than most other Hungarians, but even he can't quite account for all of Gordon's output (a significant percentage perhaps)!

... only because some is consumed in the distillery for QC purposes (both official and unofficial).
