We need to take punitive action against weak puns. You need to be punished, possibly a punch (just a punt at an appropriate punishment). The punishment must be delivered punctually. You might even be banished to Punjabi or even Pune, a poor fate for such a pungent pundit.
Now stop being a punk with the puny puns and I might reward you with a punnet of strawberries.

I just observed that a down-vote again eats points (I guess the colors hurt their delicate optic nerves - "color me red!");
People remain people.
Time will always pass.
When they get together, all too often, bad things arise. Because they can.

For a while it seemed that down-votes didn't do any point damage and the amount of down-voting just for the hell of it dropped.
We were infected by what were referred to as drive-by down-voters, doing it "Because they can".
Now that they can mess with you, again, we may expect an imminent relapse of the malady.
Or am I still asleep, somewhere?

That all red message did abuse my eyes but so much so I couldn't find the abusive link anyway.

Another pair, just like it, at 8:00 AM, for the colored page posting. I was surprised, myself, also being of the opinion that it had to be disabled due to it's own abuse. (ironic).

I don't think it's a downvote specifically - it's a side affect of an abuse vote adding a downvote.
And no, it wasn't me: we appear to have some very thin skinned members.

It is not, those messages always come in couple. Whaen you are reported 2 messages are generated: the 0 points abusive and the -16 downvote because a report is implicitly a downvote.
Still no downvote in the lounge.
And the downvote came from a platinum - I nickname it "the ghost platinum" because it often reports seemingly acceptable messages but never comments, hinting at its identity.

This is the first I've seen of it.
From your description, it sounds much like a "Drive By" style. If they really didn't like what they read it would be much more productive (or at least, informative) if they posted their objection.
Good to know I need only ignore them - Thanks.

A platinum voter only costs -16? I'm offended. I would have thought -80 at least.
Before you ask, no, the downvotes are not from me.

Certainly not, if we're only getting -16 points! Now if they raise that to -80, maybe I'll play!

What I actually look at isn't the point totals.
It's more closely relate to whether anyone cares (or decries) what was posted. Replies serve that purpose to an extent, but some upvote instead of posting something like 'good one!'.
This is most important if I post a joke. Helps in determining if it should enjoy further sharing or an ignoble death.
The whole system is skewed if negative remarks are done simply for the sake of doing them rather than any opinion.
It's knowing it's more of a conversation than a monologue.
