..because you'd like to replace the string mulitple times in your current selection. Works great when the refactoring-commands don't, like strings.

Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Find and Replace -> Automatically populate Find What with text from the editor

ya, I know... but MS changed they key combos in VS2012 ... CTRL+F USED to open the Find WINDOW, not the Find thingy..

It is about giving visibility to the stake holder so that at the end of the day, they can't say it's wrong. "YOU ASKED FOR IT!"
