Since upgrading to Win 8.1, I found on a couple of occasions that restore points are generally useless. System Restore just reports a file "missing"! I now take a regular image of my systems drive, so at least I don't have to rebuild the whole frigging thing.

Try the troubleshooter on this page[^]
My dad's laptop had the same issue, and the troubleshooter fixed it (corrupt service registration).

Remote Desktop -> Remote Desktop -> Remote Desktop -> Remote Desktop
Was working remotely when I was setting up some shortcut for remote connections on a few computers and tested them and started wonder how deep I could go?
What's your deepest level?

I used remote desktop to connect to my work machine, which was connected to my home machine by Teamviewer, and the display nearly disappeared up its own interface!

I tried that once with I think it was Citrix. And it even worked, althouh it looked strange. I could then in the remote remote session disconnect the original remote session, which deactivated the whole construct.
The good thing about pessimism is, that you are always either right or pleasently surprised.

Quite often, I wind up remoting (Citrix) into a client desktop and from there remote desktop into one of their servers, so 3 would be my deepest level. At that point, the latency becomes a real issue.
