Angry birds 2 was just released[^], I think. So I thought it appropriate to the clue, and the <=: is birdlike when viewed the right way. ...

So you are up tomorrow - and I didn't need my third clue: "Kryton's favourite TV show has a familiar tune..." (which would have been a give away)

I've never looked at these before today - don't know what the rules are - better check 'em out!

ok I read the instructions. I dpn[t have a clue what he is talking about
his example - 9@9 is obvious
In what way does yours make sense?
Are we just saying
Devise a simple cypher where each character of a word is represented by another ASCII symbol?
That's impossible to solve without a clue!
Four characters could (obviously) be any four letter word.
I mean, Android could be
!@#$%^&
surely?
What am I missing?

The guessing part obviously
And btw your obfuscation is wrong it would be !@#$%^# cause same letter === same character
You could do it like OG, and try to draw something, you could do it like Mr. Kornfield and use an equation, you could do it in 1337 however you are free on that, the first hint, all the hints are essential for solving.
BTW, i think i forgott to set the rule that only working days are posting days
Rules for the FOSW ![ ^]

I moved the rules for WSO CCC OTD to my profile, so they were easy to find - lounge searching doesn't always work as well as you'd hope, and old posts tend to drift into the permafrost...
Might be an idea to move them to yours, and update them?

They are on my profile or are they not?
They get updated every time we encounter a problem
Still loking for words for F and S XD

The way I read it, is as a substitution cypher - so each letter is represented by the same character:
ANDROID
[]|<=:| So the two "D"s have the same symbol. And if you rotate it 90o clockwise if vaguely resembles an android.
And the hints:
"It's probably in your phone right now" - Android is the most popular phone OS[^] by a HUGE margin.
"You'll be malfunctioning within a day, you near-sighted scrap pile" - C3PO's comment to R2D2 at the start of the original Star Wars. C3PO was an android (and they were both droids)
"Kryton's favourite TV show has a familiar tune..." - in the episode when Kryten appeared in Red Dwarf, that was mentioned several times, and a quick google for "Kryton's favourite TV show" gives you "Androids" (sung to the "Neighbours" theme tune).
That's my interpretation, anyway - and I am rubbish at these, so I could well be totally off message here. It was a fluke that I won yesterday, it probably won't happen again!

So would the fourth clue have been "Marvin", or Radiohead[^]?

The clue is in the name: WSO stands for "Winner Stays On" - so whoever gets it right first gets to set it the next workday (Mon-Fri inclusive).
So, post the answer first, and you get to do it the next day!

I just sent this to a certain business. They emailed me, and said they'd be calling me shortly. The number I gave was 123-456-9876, so I doubt it:
This is why I gave a fake number. I actually have a junk mailbox I usually
use for signing up for things like this.
It's silly to make someone give up contact info just to see classes and
pricing. That way they can get hit with spam until the end of time.
Now that I've been spammed there's no way I'll consider going to this for
certification/classes unless it is somehow the last place left in the
world where it's possible.

But you could make millions from a sick billionaire widow from Asia who wants to do a last good deed!
Or of course from your rich uncle from Bolivia who passed away and named you as his sole heir!
How are these kind people going to reach you now?
Think of all the opportunities you'll miss, you privacy-valueing fool!

Now I will go in search of that widow from my continent.
