Sorry my cat overlord, please forgive my rudeness
But back to reality, yeah I personally don't like cats but fill your boots with what ever makes you happy!!
Every day, thousands of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians.

I don't hate cats.
But I have less interest in you talking about your pet than I have in a small fungal growth on someone's toenail.
Farcebook is the place to post pictures of your pussy, join the other synapse-reduced and share pictures of "cutie" hiding in a boot, or whatever.
I thought we were above that

Yet you started a thread about it?
There's so much crap out there, it's just easier to ignore and move on.
OP did the only thing that'll keep everybody happy - he posted his cat pictures, but on Facebook, which means you and I won't even see them unless the link is actually clicked.

Be fair - I didn't start a thread about his cat - I started a thread about how Cp is sinking to the depths of inanity

Where's teh fun in that?

Well that's evidently untrue, isn't it?!
It's not that pictures of cats scare me or something - but it's like being in an old lady's house when people start talking about their bloody cats all day long.
For the record I have had cats in the past, loved them to death (not literally) and have three dogs at present (also had Alpacas and chooks)
But I didn't come over all cardigan-wearing dimwit and start posting photos about the luvvy wuvvies!
Next thing you know we'll have a bloody CPOTD!

LOL! Good observation...

Aw! Cutie!
She needs some toys or something to get her enjoying her new surroundings - do you have one of those "red dot" laser pointers?
And if she is still hiding lots, it's worth a try with a Feliway plug-in thingy. We use one here for Dij as he is horribly territorial (and a big girls blouse as well) and it just makes him feel safer without being a "chemical cosh" at all.

The caretaker at the animal shelter was talking about a Feliway for one of the other cats.
Nika is good though! She was just relaxing on a chair
She has some toys, but for now she's just carefully exploring the living room and taking it easy.

I was surprised at the difference it made to Dij. He eats better, is more comfortable around his own house, and generally happier.
Apparently it just mimics the pheromones they normally rub onto everything, so they think the whole house is their territory and relax. Supposed to be good for "new places" as well, but I haven't tried that.
Looking at your floor, I do hope you have a scratching post!

I might still try one of those Feliways then!

I actually ordered a scratching post, and it's supposed to be delivered, but it isn't.
So I'll have a call about that today...

Feliway works on some cats but the real power of it is relaxing the human through the power a placebo. If you think it is working, then you are more calm and relaxed, the cat can read your behavior and will be more calm and relaxed. Not saying it is total voodoo, just not magical either. Ref: The wife was a vet-tech for a number of years. If you can keep the human calm, it rubs off on the cat.
Also, if you just picked her up, give her some time to get comfortable in her surroundings. She will have to make the space hers, claim some territory and so on.
One of our boys was a rescue, came from a hoarder situation and is still skittish after a few years. He is doing better but has days where he will run for cover when a big truck rolls past the house. The same truck that rolled past the day before and he sat at the window watching it.
