Donald Trump heard you been talkin' smack, and put a beat down on your ass.
Anyhow, hope your payroll issue gets resolved fast, and permanent.

Are you also going to complain when you submit 44 hours and they pay you for 52?
Oh wait, I just read your post from last month - I guess you would complain .
I suspect their system messed up because Labor Day was last week. I assume they don't pay you for holidays because you are a contractor, so somewhere in the process it deducted an 8 hour day from the hours you submitted.

Four years ago I worked at a company which made mistakes on 14 of my first 16 paychecks. Shortly after they finally got it right, the company was bought and I was laid off.
At my current job, the contract company has been flawless. (Oxford Global Resources[^])

£49.99 over this side of the pond, but still cheap.
I use Apple stuff as much as possible and develop apps for iOS, but looking at branching out into Android development - the phones are a bit steep still (almost iPhone prices) but this could be a decent device for playing around with Android Studio.
What do you think?

That's exactly what I would do. This is a great low-price for decent hardware and you could definitely use it for getting into Android Studio and dev. I think it's a great idea.

Don't Amazon have a tendency to almost lock down their own version of Android though?

I think it is a "custom" version but mostly that is for ease of use for non-devs.
Also, you can click the Settings...About... 7 times and then dev options become available on Android devices.

They do. It's locked down tighter than a ducks chuffer.

Look at moto phones for something cheap. For casual use (read not gaming) the moto E/G get good reviews and they're $75/179 here. An E is probably going to be my next cheap-because-I-always-kill-it-after-a-year-or-so music player. (My 18mo Lumia 520 has contracted static of the audio jack syndrome.)
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

I hadn't seen these ones before, the E looks good for simple development - I'd probably go for the G to cover most bases, thanks for pointing these out!

I'm not sure I'd want to replace an e-ink display for an LCD display for reading.

Do you see another use case than the one of the example ? Maybe there is a reason why this is not known

I did, but I had to Google it. I have a column that's empty except for a checkmark. Instead of typing the ASCII code (✕ = ✕) every time, I just give it the class name and voila'!

I can think of a few examples. A citation is one. I cooked up a fiddle to show what I mean...
