MarkTJohnson wrote: The only reason git is any kind of success
I believe the success was driven more by the need for source control for open source projects that were being completely managed on the internet. The early solutions that were free were very problematic. Additionally since a great number of open source projects represent a single deliverable the git problem with that wasn't apparent.

I thought it was just me that was sticking with SVN whilst everyone else was moving to Git. I kept thinking I was missing something as SVN seemed comparatively simple. Looks like the only thing I'm missing is the headache.

🐉🐙👻💀🎃👻💀 (7)
(For the emoji-challenged, that's: Dragon|Octopus|Ghost|Skull|Jack O'Lantern|Ghost|Skull)
Clues:
1) He's not dead; he's just taking a really long nap!
2) This Plutonian whale opens new horizons.
The third clue, which wasn't needed:
3) Oh R'lyeh? You're Calling for a third clue? I wish I could say I love crafting these. Oh well, if the Mountains won't come to the Madness...
Griff got the answer[^] below - Cthulhu[^].
Now enjoy this lovely Christmas carol[^] in his honour.
Explanations:
The first two characters, for those who can see them, are a dragon and an octopus. Cthulhu has been described as a mix between a giant octopus, a man and a dragon.
1) "That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die." (The Nameless City[^])
2) The New Horizons probe mapped Pluto and found a dark whale-shaped region, now called Cthulhu Regio[^].
3) (The tactical nuclear clue.)
- R'lyeh is Cthulhu's home town. His followers are known to chant: Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn (In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming)
- "You're Calling for a third clue?" - The Call of Cthulhu[^]
- "love crafting" - H.P. Lovecraft
- "if the Mountains won't come to the Madness" - At the Mountains of Madness[^]
Happy Samhain! 😈

The Dragon[^] is not shown here using Firefox.

It works for me, and I'm also using Firefox.
What OS?

The dragon emoji wasn't added until 2010; Windows 7 was released in 2009.

You should expect that many people here still use Win 7 rather than 8.1 or 10

Can't see the Dragon either. Win 7 32-bit.

Windows 7 pre-dates the addition of the dragon emoji. You'll just have to imagine that it's there.

Okay, so I step in the game.
Here is my first guess.
Is it "content"
Richard Deeming wrote: He's not dead; he's just taking a really long nap
Just don't know how does it fit in the clue

No. One black peg, one white peg.

Can you please tell me, when do we get a black peg and when do we get a white one?
Just forgot

A black peg means you have a correct letter in the correct place.
A white peg means you have a correct letter in the wrong place.

Oh I see... Thank you
Let me put some more effort to solve it

Got it.

That's two words, and only five letters.
Are you going to post the answer?

No. I'm usually horrible at these.

Well, now's your chance to change that and win!

Now that's confusing me

I was being facetious - "Got it" is two words, and only has a total of five letters. The answer is one word, with a total of seven letters.

Oh okay... That's a relief

|
|
|

"Fastest" fits too. But those horrible faces say "No the answer must be something HORRIBLE"
|
|
|
|

One white peg. And the faces are leading you in the right direction.
