Thank you for reminding me of that shloka in that Book of Books that reminds one so beautifully that there really is no basis for "lament."

Apparently Americans don't know what they are[^].
Even worse they think they are a delicacy enjoyed by the British Upper Class on Boxing day (no, that's Turkey Sandwiches). America you are welcome to the Sausage Roll - but can we give you back Dominos Pizza in exchange?
Seriously to all the Yanks here, do you really not know what a Sausage Roll is?
Do the ex-pats in the States not miss them?

Heh... People actually go to Dominos? Wow... I always get a chuckle at the tourists who come to New York, eager to have an authentic New York pizza, and for some reason get lost and end up in Dominos or Papa Johns or Pizza Hut... It's cute.

That's actually the point. You know Pizza didn't originate in New York right? It shouldn't have a 6" deep base and if you scrunched it up in your hand, it would only drip a dribble of Olive Oil.
(Sorry I work with a Neapolitan and his snobbishness over Pizza has worn off on me)

Pizza doesn't have a 6" deep base... That's what they do over in Chicago... Deep-dish pizza isn't pizza either... It's a casserole... Or maybe a souffle. New York pizza is thin-crust.
As for the oil... Well, that varies.

Anyway, do you know what a Sausage Roll is and have you had one?

A pig in blanket in the UK is a sausage wrapped in bacon (as your link says further down). What you've linked to is similar but not exactly the same, the 'sausage' in a UK sausage roll is not a complete sausage, it's more of a sausage patty. I can't begin to explain how amazed I am that you Americans don't know what a 'proper' Sausage roll is. I'm thinking of coming over there and starting up a business.

It looks a lot better than out pig in a blanket for sure. Don't you know we USians are bred to eat that fast food crap.

You would think but my brother made some"thing" tonight that had a ?boiled? cabbage, ?boiled? bacon and sausage. My stomach is gurgling and well let's just say left overs will stay left.

What he boiled bacon, bloody hell he really went out of his way to ruin the meal then! I think I like pig served in any style but it would never occur to me to boil the poor bloody thing.

That's what I'm saying...he ruined it. I'll have to check but I'm pretty certain there's a Florida statute concerning just that very thing.

I was back home in Oz a few weeks ago and the first thing I did was hit the local for a decent sausage roll. You know - one of the really cheap ones from the nasty corner bakery. So good. So bad, but so good.
Just up the road is a French cafe who happens to do the best sausage rolls I've ever had, bar none.
One day I'm going to just setup a cafe here in Canadia and teach the poor inmates what they are missing out on.
