I'm sorry, library is a false friend in Italian - I wanted to say bookshop BTW we don't usually have fines for lateness (excpet after more than 6 months and at least 2 formal notifications) because as a public service open to everyone users are not supposed to have money to spare, so the fine is actually a ban from the service of the same lenght of the lateness.

As I answered in the post before, I wanted to say bookshop. In Italian "libreria" means bookshop, while library is "biblioteca" (derived straigthly from Greek).

I usually send the books on a road that leads to me. Unless I want one in my native language, then I take a different road than you, but the destination is the same. And there are these little book shops in Ljubljana, not sure how to translate the word, but those are worth checking out - usually for some unknown or known but rare/hard to get poetry.

I'm also a bookaholic, only until I download the PDF.

How do they make bookahol? Mix old books, water and yeast and then wait a few weeks?
The language is JavaScript. that of Mordor, which I will not utter here
This is Javascript. If you put big wheels and a racing stripe on a golf cart, it's still a f***ing golf cart.

The glue they use to bind the books can be processed.

It may not look as intellectual, but would simply sniffing the glue not work better?

The process is similar to that used to make Stone Soup.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Edit: oops ... meant to post this on the Site Suggs and Buggs Forum. I plead insomnia ... 15 hours ago was about 7am here, and I was sleepless, using the computer to keep warm in a record-breaking (for northern Thailand) rainy weather anomaly with temperatures around 50F/11C (like Seattle, it was, and is today).
I just noticed this (is it a recent "feature" ?).
If everyone harvesting the strange fruit in the gardens of QA down-voted with wisdom and parsimony (hallelujah !), then I'd be fine with this
Unfortunately, down-voting behavior on QA (the forums I hang out on) is, imho, as immoderate and out-of-control as the behavior of many regular respondents (including, sad-to-say, some MVP's).
So, imho, this lagniappe of popped-up nugatory, is of little value, and, may have the effect ... not sure about this ... of discouraging reading the questions.
thanks, Bill

Well put, Bill. I feel that the temptation to be dictatorial on the Q&A forum needs to be resisted. Members should be free to post and answer questions without being bullied by others who think they know what’s best for them. To me, passing judgement on posters, when nothing is known about them or their circumstances, is somewhat unfair. Surely, virtue is not found by deprecating the needy but by offering them unconditional help?

Bill, I only up-vote with wisdom and parsimony, never down-vote ...
actually I did it even 2x today

Hm, I don't see anything when I mouse-hover over the link to a question in QA. Where are you seeing this?

After the first 30 or 40 cm fall, snow can really suck.
After the next 30 or 40 cm fall, one simply glares stupidly at the sky, wondering whatever was done by whom to deserve this.

Yup. You guys have it easy. If the snow falls and drifts too high, you just shake the ground for a while so everything settles down nice and flat.

If you're referring to earthquakes, there was a 4.1 close to here this weekend. No one even notices unless it's >= 6.9.
My brother lives in Florida. His wife is terrified of coming to California because of earthquakes. Yet she lives in a state that is routinely hit with 3 or 4 hurricanes every year.
A quake big enough to mean anything happens rarely and rarely cause significant damage. See The Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989[^]. Compare to the 7.1 quake in Alaska this weekend[^] which cause little damage.
Hurricanes happens EVERY YEAR and cause billions in damage.
I don't get her fear.
