How old are we talking?
If it's IE10, then you just need to use the older syntax[^].
Using Flexbox: Mixing Old and New for the Best Browser Support[^]
If it's IE9 or earlier, then you'll need to fake it with float or display:inline-block .
Use Modernizr[^] to add classes to the <html> element so that you can easily switch between approaches:
.flexbox .product-grid
{
display: flex;
flex-direction: row;
flex-wrap: wrap;
justify-content: center;
}
.flexbox .product-grid > .product-grid-item
{
flex-basis: 25%;
}
.no-flexbox .product-grid > .product-grid-item
{
display: inline-block;
vertical-align: top;
width: 25%;
}
If you're using display:inline-block , watch out for white-space between your elements:
Fighting the Space Between Inline Block Elements[^]

Thank you for your awesome answer for my non programming question. Especially for the link to the old syntax and how to mix it with the new syntax properly.
But the idiot devil sysadmin has turned off JavaScript
Old : As I'm told a couple of boxes may still run IE 6. Majority are Windows 7 boxes, so I guess should be IE 8
Pretty old indeed. With the exception of dev boxes that we use.
I'm not using flexbox now. Had to go the hard way with floats and inline-blocks.

Might be worth mentioning to the sysadmin that support for IE6 ended in April 2014. Every security vulnerability found since then remains unpatched.
And, as of 12th January this year, anything earlier than IE11 is in the same boat: Internet Explorer End of Support[^]

Your sysadmin seems to be the a complete idiot.

You still have an ip address don't you?
And what about cookies?

Yes I have an IP (from my provider), but I changed my Location before two month... and somebody seems to remember my history.
Cookies: I don't think so. I tried it with a VBox which is really - I think - virgin. But same happens there.
And the most curious: If I do the same while connecting to any pc in our Company Network I face the same

I run CCleaner on a regular basis to get rid of pesky cookies and other stuff left behind when I use my browser. It's free.

Got a customers computer that has decided certain dialog boxes don 't need any test in the box itself or on buttons.
I thought I had it down to Outlook Notifications and the Email Account Dialog, but then the customer showed me the MYOB 2015.4.1 Open Company File Dialog and it was the same.
I have removed all Malwae, Applied all Windows Updates, including IE 11, AMD Display Drivers and also Office Updates.
I have it here now to backup and reinstall, but I don't want to.
What is the magic bullet to fix this?

Beer.
Lots and lots of beer.
Then with luck he won't be able to see the damn computer, much less complain about dialog boxes!

Faarrrkkk Off, I'm not giving him my beer. I'm currently alternating between Matilday Bay Brewwings Fat Yak and Double Bundy OP and Pepsi Max.
I'm feeling ggod now, but mot tomorrow when the issue still remains.

He's a customer.
So you give him your beer, then you charge him for it (plus a handling fee, of course).

On a more serious note, I'd suspect handles are running out.
Are there any apps running that might be hogging resources?
Have you tried to see what happens in Safe Mode?

Crashplan every 15 minutes, MYOB, QuickBooks, Office 2016 and probably much more.

It sounds like the text is the same color as the dialog maybe...but only for certain ones? I've seen some wierd things happen where the transparency color is set to a common background.

Hi All,
Had fun yesterday. On Thursday the Win10 box I am writing on updated and the spiders silk BT connection at my parents went down. Spent Friday on the phone to BT got the line up and working, the problem then was the PC had got part way through an update and when the connection was broken it appeared to do something to the WiFi, when I manged to find the widget that controls System Restore I rolled back installation rebooted and held breath. It worked and days worth of emails. So to any else noticed Win10 being picky if an update is faulty.
