Mr John Simmons, FYI
[Updated the point was about poking me, but your ignorance on Microsoft]
The question:

The answer:

Microsoft is NOT always the expensive beast. They ARE expensive to corporates. But they've been trying hard to get into direct consumer segment. Particularly Smartphones/gadgets. They'd continue to shower offers!
So think twice before you make a bold scathy statement, gentle man. Else you will end up sounding like a Developer Donald Trump.

Microsoft has been gouging independent developers for decades. This new benevolence is entirely out of character and something we're not used to seeing.

Not entirely.
It's called competition!
Remember, IE was NOT free initially. Then Mozilla came, then IE was free.
VS 5, 2002, 2003 (which I bought at an affordable price for a student or poor young worker) were not free, then SharpDvelop was becoming an increasingly attractive open source and free alternative. Then they started community.
Same thing now!
iOS is eating their market (perhaps Linux too?) and they have free dev tool?
It's clear to me. I love Microsoft. And I have its competitor to thanks for that!

John will most likely not abide by your wishes. Let it go and move on. Calling him out on it will not help either and I have seen this in the past to prove futile.

Spot on. Sane words! I kind a realized that. I think I just need to spend more time in forums to get back my thick skin.

Brother Vunic,
If you are worried about what anyone has "called you" here (the Lounge), or anywhere else on CodeProject, you may be suffering from SNOBARFOP (Social NetWork Obnoxious Behavior Attitude Reactivity Feelings of Persecution) Syndrome.
Be assured this is not you that is having these feelings, but rather it is the outcome of a type of social-emotional virus that rides on the coat-tails of high-frequency internet use to infiltrate the vulnerable minds of programmers high on their own abstractions.
And, be assured the apparent sources of this inner disturbance ... the behaviors you perceive as directed at you ... are simply the outcome of the same syndrome exhibited by the carriers of this virus. Yes, like many virii, SNOBARFOP selects certain infectees which it engineers into being carriers, but who, themselves, do not experience the downside (the negative feelings) that the average infectee experiences.
Just as the Toxoplasma gondii parasite can engineer the behavior of mice so they are less afraid of cats [^] in order to get itself into the cat where it can reproduce, SNOBARFOP can transform middle-class Texas kids who are computer nerds (who grew up going to the mall, not the firing range) into pistol-packin' on-line hell-raisers, quick on the draw with what may seem like insult.
Is there a cure ? Well, that's a big question, and, after I finish an hour or two of crying because nobody has read the recent QA answer I thought was one of my best ... I'll think about it again.
cheers, Bill

I think you can write an article on that.
Yeah, to be honest I get a bit irritated when someone makes an unwarranted statement.
And ignore an explanation for it.
But here in this thread, my message was more towards asking him to see what MS is up to. I felt like he's stuck on the days where MS might have tried to make money out of every single thing they make.
Now they throw a lot of things for free , open source frameworks, & as an organization if you got an MSDN license, nothing like that. The whole bundle is up there to take.
When I said, "You shouldn't have called me funny" , I meant he was completely wrong about Microsoft. & ask him take his words back both on Microsoft & about my comment.

How in the name of Crindlberry do you define the truth as being "unwarranted statements".

Vunic wrote: Just updated my OP. How childish it might have sounded like. Brother Vunic,
I did forget to mention that denial is often the first reaction in the initial stages of infection by SNOBARFOP; as yet we do not have evidence, at the level of confidence needed to attribute causality, if this behavior, and its accompanying emotional affect of "rueful regret," is directly caused by the virus.
But, it does appear ... for which we are thankful ... that you are not in the psychotic phase sometimes seen in recent infectees: you do not claim your words were written by someone pretending to be you.
The "jury is still out" on whether a recent infectee who claims public statements they authored were the result of possession by an alien intelligence, or entity, is ipso facto evidence for the psychotic phase of early infection.
After all, some of the researchers say the virus is an alien intelligence. It is unfortunate that at the last WOCOROSNOBARFOP (World Conference on Research on SNOBARFOP) arguments over whether the virus was intelligent led to gunfire and fatalities.
cheers, Bill

I was thinking you are saying something sensible, you turn out to be a silly guy!
Okay please hold on there. I said that intentionally, to put you in my shoes. Excuse me. Did you really like me calling you a "silly guy" ? Is it not as simple as that? I dont mean to really call you with a stupid name. I got respect for you. And I know how to behave in forums.
But please excuse me my brother , I dont fit into the terminologies you have discovered. I'm a simple man expecting common sense in a conversation. The man in context, usually makes loud comments and nobody bothers to say a word against that behavior. Why? My simple effort here is to remind him, some people talk back instead of going dumb for his loud, unsollicited comments.
Please don't support arrogant behaviors in forums! All the advices you have given me just tells that we need to move on , no matter what people throw on us? And to remind you, no where I've used any words that's objectionable or offending John Simmons. Its just a reply I've given him.
