For me it does not work either

I just came to Code Project ... haha

Has anyone been part of a focus group? I had the opportunity a long time ago and it was...odd. I don't recall the product, but I do recall I disagreed voraciously with the marketing peeps who seemed to be on a different plane of reality.
This got me thinking (yes, my brain is a scrap heap through which the winds of whimsy occasionally set free an errant idea):
Would anyone here be interested in being part of a Focus Group for IT related topics? I spend a lot of time talking to marketing types about how we're all very smart, very nice, and utterly unforgiving when it comes to marketing people assuming they are smarter than us (OK, maybe I'm a little kinder than that, but you are are smarter than the average bear), and I thought why not share the fun?
If you're interested head to The CodeProject Focus Group[^] and hit "Apply to Join this group".

Should we focus on kicking the marketing people out?
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Well, I doubt I'm representative even for programmers.
|
|
|
|
|
Heck, I'm not even representative of a human being, despite walking around inside the skin of one.
|
|
|
|
|
That on the other hand doesn't necessary make you less representative for programmers.

Possibly the first order of business for this Focus Group would have to be to determine what the cross cut of developers look like.
Soon after the Focus group will disband because they can't stop arguing about it

Yes I have and I found it to be a complete waste of time. It was for a redesign of one of websites. Everything I argued against ended up being used anyway, because reasons. Then a year after the new site was launched it was redesigned again, this time with no focus group, because "complaints".

Oh yes - a certain rather well known technology company has used me in the past (used being the operative word here). Let's just say that the products that came out don't represent what we were saying was needed. I'm not going to name the company as I'm friends with a few of their people, and they are good people. It's not their fault that the company behaved like a douche towards us.

No, no, no...
I refuse to be part of any group that would have a guy like me as a member.

I was part of a focus group a long time ago for a large software company that shall remain nameless being asked about features and UI options in their latest O/S (let's called it "Doors"). Suffice it to say they went almost exactly the opposite way to my, and apparently most of the rest of the focus group's, suggestions.
One thing they did, as an example, was not to show file extensions by default in their file administration program since the marketing people running the focus group said, "It would just confuse the average user; better to hide them." Since then so may virus hits have been successful with programs called, for example, "cutecatvideo.avi.exe" which of course looks like "cutecatvideo.avi" on the list; totally safe right?
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

You've got to leave that behind you, though. Focus groups are useless if they don't completely disregard the past and "focus" on what's on the table.

Can anyone recommend a decent tutorial/book for setting up an Azure web site and database? (ASP.Net and SQL Server). Nothing fancy. Amazon had over 100 pages of books and I can't find anything reasonably simple to follow.
Thanks

Thanks; one of hundreds. I really want a decent book. Should have specified.
Plus, Google is not my friend; it is way too fast and loose with recommendations.

My company started our first Azure webapp/sql database solution about a year ago. It was amazingly easy to get working. I know this is no help to you, and apologize for that, just wanted to say that you don't need a book to get it working.

Appreciate that. I'm a reader: like to get some background before I start something. Still, it does appear reasonably straightforward.

I have been having trouble off and on on Win10 where I :
Windows Defender Has File In Use
1. download a file to my <users>\..\downloads directory and then when I attempt to copy it elsewhere Windows Defender is taking so long that it won't copy the file because it is busy scanning it.
No Access To File I Own
2. Now, this morning I downloaded a image file and I attempted to preview it and Windows 10 (built-in) photo viewer or whatever tells me I do not have access to that file because I am not the owner. What?
It's quite terrible.
Anyone else seeing this lately?
I'll reboot, but it's so annoying.
Oh, it looks like I was able to rename the file at the <users>\..\downloads location and then I owned it.
Whatever, Win10!
EDIT
Here's a link to someone else who has seen very similar issues:

It would appear that you are wrong. This is NOT a repost.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???
