Which update was that?
For me it changed nothing so far, but maybe it wasn't the same one. On the other hand I have used Edge to download Opera, Chrome and Firefox when I still had win 8.

Trying to find out - but if the Sort options in "Installed updates" actually did what they should, it would help...
KB3147458 is the only one listed for this morning or yesterday...
Anyway, uninstall Chrome and reinstall and it's working as well now.

Would make sense, that's the only cumulative upgrade I have on the list in a bunch of updates from two days ago. I guess I was just lucky that it left everything else alone.
It's been a lottery with Windows 10 cumulative upgrades, at least for me. As the first one changed all of my settings back to default. The second one deleted some of my programs(CCleaner comes to mind). This one was ok. Or I haven't yet noticed what happened

Yeah - one of them turned my network adapter off and refused to let me have it back - but that was an "ungrade" copy of Win10, rather than the current clean install.
I suspect MS do it deliberately if you choose Chrome instead of Edge...

Well, the Linux command is small news
If your business has no backups, redundancy, in place to survive a typo, then that is a huge liability and failure.

He had the backups
To top it all off, Marsala even deleted his backups. He did have offsite backups but he had just connected to the provider and mounted the drives to his computer for access. This gave the command access to the offsite backup server too, letting it wipe its contents alongside everything else.

|
|
|
|
This arcitecture also means ahacker or random ware had access to destroy those off site backup. It's no excuse. PCI auditors would have him bend over the stall with petro jelly

Neither. He exposed a vulnerability which should never have existed. His chain of command should be purged of the obvious dead wood.

Lots of good points made in the article however one extra thing I do, to be as safe as possible when using command line maintenance, is to write out everything in something like notepad first so that I can go through and check what the commands are. Then I just copy and paste in the commands, typing a command in realtime carries a lot of risks with it if you accidentally press the enter key.
Similarly in sql updates - ensuring that the 'where' clause is not on a separate line also prevents accidentally running a delete on everything.

Good idea on the 'where' clause safeguard.

I have just read that should there be a Brexit the Czechs may propose a Czexit.
Am I the only one who would like Finland to consider their position as well, if nothing else than to hear all the journos have to refer to Fexit?

EU's disintegration would be a huge tradgedy.
EU brings together all of Europe into a package for Washington to direct
Absent EU would be chaos without leader to counter Russia's world wide foreign intervention
|
|
|
|
|
The two last times time EU wasn't together were called World War I and World War II. The time before gave birth to names like "The 30 years war". And the time before that were called the Dark Ages.
See for yourself how good that would be...
