No serious development, so I'm not upgrading anything and going right for a new (gaming/dev) PC later this year

Cool! It's always fun buying new hardware. I tend to buy high powered boxes that I can use for 5-7 years. Right now I'm in the market for a 2nd monitor (or a new primary monitor).

Of course once the big spending is done and you've cried yourself to sleep a few times the healing can begin.
And a brand new gaming PC helps to speed up any healing process

I was gonna say, whatever this machine's being used for, give that poor i7 more RAM so it can stretch its legs.

I agree. Increasing the RAM from 4G is prolly the cheapest bang for the buck.

Could anyone who's running Windows 10 try running the following command from the "Run" dialog and let me know the results?
rundll32.exe appwiz.cpl,NewLinkHere %USERPROFILE%\Desktop
On my machine, and on every other machine I've tried it on, it pops up the "create shortcut" dialog[^].
But a user in QA is insisting that it doesn't work on any of his computers, and is demanding that I remove my "incorrect" answer.
Also, if someone more diplomatic than me would like to join the conversation[^]...

Thanks for trying it. Which build of Windows? And was it an upgrade, or a fresh install?

I can confirm, it Shows a dialogue "create shortcut". Tested in a virtual W10 machine.

Richard invited people "more diplomatic than himself" to join the discussion. On that ground I have to recuse myself.

Oh, I see what you're doing, but it either needs to use more carefully sculpted words, or be audio/visual. It ain't hitting the spot that you were aiming at.

He's not even Swedish.
Then again, I am, and I don't get it most of the time.
