It's a pretty common abbreviation in crosswords: ry railway crossword - Google Search[^]

When I googled ry most hits were for the Royal Bank of Canada and a search for "ry abbreviations" showed none for railway. But crossword abbreviations, I didn't think to search that. Thank you.

Now, I understand “small” as a prefix operator on “railway”.
I was thinking HO scale for small railway or SUB for small.
I was totally “off track”!

After less than a week on W11 I got so frustrated with the taskbar, that I actually paid for a software to resolve the issue...
It is not about the money ($5), but the realization that MS actually doesn't give a sh*t about end user...

I'm using ExplorerPatcher and 7 Taskbar Tweaker. I think MS is going to bring back the 'don't combine' feature soon.

I have been using ExplorerPatch it works so sticking with it for awhile. I think I paid money for it even.

Yep, I running ExplorerPatcher and Open Shell on my Win 11 VM. So far they seem to work fine together and give me all the start menu and taskbar features I like/use.

mmm.. what is the problem with the task bar exactly?

No text and always grouped...
So to select one of the N opened Visual Studio instances is PITA...

Isn't is also the case that when the mouse is hovered over the group icon in the Taskbar, it shows all the opened instances as thumbnails/tooltips, from which the desired one can be selected? Doesn't seem like a PITA.

It is PITA... You have to wait for the popup, then identify the correct instance from the thumbernail... You also misding identifications lke 'Running' or 'Debug'... A big time PITA

I thought Windows 10 did that also?

But you could change it to your liking...

Well.. for the very first time I can put all my favorite application on the task bar... so forgive me if I fail to see your problem without any clues, Mr person I don't even know!

I'm sorry, I don't understand. I'm looking at Windows 10 and I have all these applications on the task bar grouped the way I like them.
What am I missing?

Functionality I always use that's was missing with the Win 11 default task bar:
1) Ability to add a toolbar (I always add a QuickLaunch toolbar)
2) Move the task bar to the left side of the screen
3) Set 'never combine' for active applications
I just kept using Win 10 until I came across ExplorerPatcher which gives me all the taskbar features I use. I also use Open Shell to give me a start menu I like.
