Surely you'd want a little more than that? Such as creation date etc...

Not exactly a problem - that was just a quick "chuck it together" jobbie. Use the FileInformation instead of the file name, and it's not that complex.

There's a very good file/directory utility library which is part of the open-source DotNetZip project on CodePlex; it supports several file-compare options: [^].
«There is a spectrum, from "clearly desirable behaviour," to "possibly dodgy behavior that still makes some sense," to "clearly undesirable behavior." We try to make the latter into warnings or, better, errors. But stuff that is in the middle category you don’t want to restrict unless there is a clear way to work around it.» Eric Lippert, May 14, 2008

It'd probably be "Hang the elephants who dumped 'em!" here.
And I for one would agree.

Years ago (like 30) I walked out of my apartment to my car, which meant having to walk by the dumpster in the parking lot. I heard these tiny "mews" coming from the dumpster and discovered someone had put 4 kittens, probably no more than 3 weeks old, in a cardboard box in the dumpster.
I took them in, there was more flea than kitten to them, gave them all baths in de-flea-ing stuff (box said not to use on less than 6 week old kittens, but there really wasn't much choice.) The water turned pink from all the flea poo.
Kept them for a few weeks, it was the cutest thing to see them playing in the book cases and my other two cats took to them right away, which was amazing. They all survived and I found good homes for them.

You should have just left it at "years ago" because now, for some reason, I have this mental image of you being like, 75 years old.
Good story, though.

Well, it's red because it's from the blood of what they feed on, it just turns pink in the de-flea-ing stuff because that's milky white.
